Ranesh Dasgupta was born on 12 January 1912 in the village of Gaupara in Louhjong, Dhaka. He was a close relative of the poet Jibanananda Das. Ranesh Dasgupta was a political and cultural activist who believed in Marxist philosophy from a young age. He was the founder of the 'Dhaka' Pragati Writers 'and Artists' Association based on this belief. In 1947, he was one of the organizers of the East Pakistan Communist Party. He took an active part in the Bangla language movement of 1948 and was arrested on 13 March. He was imprisoned many times for his anti-Pakistan political and cultural activities. He also made significant contributions to the study of literature. His notable books are: On the question of the artist's freedom, lighting with light, the art form of the novel, etc. He died on November 4, 1997.
