Muhammad Shahidullah was born on 10 July 1885 AD in the village of Peyara in the Basirhat subdivision of the 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.He passed BA Honors in Sanskrit from Calcutta City College in 1910. He obtained his MA degree in Comparative Linguistics from Calcutta University in 1912.Muhammad Shahidullah holds a D.Litt. In Linguistics from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Gains the glory of profit.He was engaged for a long period of thirty years as Professor and Principal of Bengali Language and Literature in various colleges and universities of Bangladesh. Muhammad Shahidullah was an outstanding genius and a linguist. He was free-spirited.He has shown remarkable erudition in the rational interpretation and analysis of difficult and complex problems concerning ancient languages and literature.Muhammad Shahidullah died on 13 July 1969 in Dhaka.
