Azizur Rahman was born on 17 January 1917 in the village of Hatsh Haripur in the then East Bengal (now Bangladesh) Kushtia Sadar Upazila to a zamindar family.His father's name is Bashir Uddin Pramanik and mother's name is Saburun Nesha. Her education came to an end after her father died in infancy. At this time he joined the local Jatra and Natak troupe.
From 1937, Azizur Rahman started sending poems and songs written by him to various magazines of the time. At that time his literary works were regularly published in Saugat, Mohammadi, Azad, Navshakti, Anandabazar, Bharatvarsha, Bulbul and Saturday Letters. He formed a theater troupe in Kushtia and also acted in it.
In 1954, Azizur Rahman joined Dhaka Betar (now Bangladesh Betar) as his own artist. In 1970, he worked as the editor of a teenage monthly called Alapani.
From 1964 to 1970, he was the editor of the literary section of the daily Paygam.
Azizur Rahman was married in 1931 to Fazilatun Nesha of Fulhari village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district. The couple has 3 sons and 4 daughters. Azizur Rahman died on 9 September 1978.
