Anisuzzaman was born on 18 February 1937 in Calcutta. His father, Dr. ATM Moazzam, mother Syeda Khatun. In 1951, he passed the entrance examination from Priyanath High School in Dhaka. He obtained his IA from Jagannath College in 1953 and his bachelor's and master's degrees with honors from Dhaka University in 1956 and 1957. He is currently working as an Emeritus Professor at Dhaka University. Professor Anisuzzaman is a researcher and essayist. Her notable books are: In Search of Nature, Eighteenth Century Bengali Letters, Old Bengali Prose, Bengali Women: Literature and Society, etc. For his achievements in literature and research, he has been awarded many honors and awards including Bangla Academy Sahitya Puraskar, Alaol Sahitya Puraskar, Ekushey Padak.
