Abu Ishaq was born on 1 November 1926 in the village of Shirangal in Shariatpur district. He matriculated in 1942 and completed his I.A. in 1944. After passing, he entered the government service. In 1960, he passed the BA examination from Karachi University. Retired from the job in 1983. He possesses his own characteristics in the pursuit of literature. He has successfully portrayed the picture of rural Bengal and its problems. From this point of view, his novel 'Suryadighal Bari' can be considered as a beautiful bright example of a successful depiction of real life. The novel 'Suryadighal Bari' is a significant addition to our literature. He won the Bangla Academy Award in 1960 for his contribution to novel-literature. His books include: Suryadighal Bari, Harem, Mahapatanga, Padma Palidwip etc. Abu Ishaq died on 17 February 2003 in Dhaka.
