Love Is Everything
It was a cloudy day in December. Mr Philips who was an English ambassador in Pakistan was performing his duty when suddenly the phone rings. Mr Philips who had been away from his homeland for a long time was quite silent and sad. After the bell had rung twice, Mr Philips lost his train of thoughts and attended the call. The only words he had listened were "Hey! I am Florence from Birmingham, England."
Mr Philips who had already been anxious about his country, England - became more anxious. And the words of Florence dragged him into the sadness and unbearable deep thoughts. Mr Philips wanted to call on that number again and listen to the words of his country sake. But he could not do this, for it would have been against his duty. All he could do was to keep himself engaged and entertained in thoughts. He could only hope of her call again so he was doing so.
It has been two hours now since he received the call of Florence. He was in great sorrows and trying to hide his tears from his mates. The bell rings again but this time Philips eagerly attends it in the first ring without getting late. It was the same person Florence. She told Philips that she was Florence from England and she was a nurse in a hospital in London. She wanted to come to Pakistan and do her job of nursing here. Because it had been her loftiest wish ever.
Mr Philips also introduced him and told her the visa process and other necessary information. After she had thanked Mr Philips, she disconnected the call. If there was a happiness gauge, their happiness could be the same because they both were happy. Florence was happy because she was going to get her biggest dream true and Philips was happy because he always loved his country and its people. So he was happy to at least feel the presence of Florence.
Soon they both started getting prepared. Mr Philips got himself prepared to meet Florence as soon as she gets in Pakistan. After seven days her visa and other processes had been completed and she was supposed to get a flight after three days. She was very happy but her parents were both; happy as well as nervous. They were nervous because Florence was their only child and she was going away from them.
Finally, the day comes. It was 3:00 pm, and Florence was all set to go because she had to get her flight 8:00 pm. She was waiting for her father to drop her at the airport when her father called her and asked her to switch on the T.V. and listen to the news. Her father had arrived before she heard the complete news. The news was about Pakistan. It was a terrorist's attack in Islamabad. In the accident, many people died and hundreds of people injured themselves. Her father forbade her to go to Pakistan, for it would be insecure for her.
On the other hand, Philips got the list of passengers who were supposed to come to Pakistan. Florence's name was also there. He was sipping his hot tea in the canteen in a sad and awaiting mood when he received a call. It was a call from the government of the UK. He was ordered to leave for the UK and take the next day's flight. Because it would have been dangerous to live in Pakistan. And the UK embassy was to remain close until the circumstances come on routine.
He was indecisive and was at sixes and sevens what to do. Because he was awaiting to meet Florence more than taking any sort of care for his life. So he decided to stay in Pakistan. But the government of the UK disagreed and ordered him to submit a resignation letter if he wants to stay in Pakistan. He did so and lost his job.
Now he had only wished to look for Florence for he was so sure that she was in Pakistan. He started searching for her in every hospital. He had searched her for thirty years and reached in his 70s. Yet he could not lose his hope. On the other hand, Florence was also optimistic to go to Pakistan. Florence was also trying to search Philips even she was also sixty-five.
One day, Mr Philips was on a walk when he suddenly met the head of the hospitals of Pakistan. He found a little hope and begged him to inquire and tell him if there was a nurse form England named Florence in any hospital of Pakistan. That kind person felt sorry for him because he had told him his complete story. The person inquired and told him that there was no such lady.
As he had lost him all hope and was going out of the hospital, he saw a case. He was a man who had cut his both the legs in an accident. He was referred to England for the recovery of his legs. The hospital management talked to a hospital administrative of England. They were told that Dr Florence would handle the case. As soon as Mr Philips had heard that sentence, he felt about some light in his dark world.
Without thinking about the result, Me. Philips cut his legs and hoped that he would be referred to Dr Florence. He was taken to a hospital and immediately sent for England.
As Dr Florence already wanted to come to Pakistan, she instead of getting the patient called to England, she moved to Pakistan to help the person. She arrived in Pakistan and helped the person in recovering his legs. At night she happened yo meet the head of hospitals the same person. He told her the Philips' story. She regretted and went back to England the very next day to help Mr Philips and stay with him forever. But Mr Philips had died for an unsuccessful operation before Florence arrived.
