Rape

For long rape has been a recognized crime throughout history. It originates from a latin verb called rapere, which means to seize or take by force. Though the word "rapere" has no sexual connotation but it's still used generically in English.

Common law define rape as forcefully having the carnal knowledge of a woman against her will. Traditional Criminological literature view rape as sexual offense while criminologist consider rape as violent, coerce act of aggression and a forceful depression of sexuality. There are numerous motives for rape which range from anger, power and sadison. Criminologist have differentiate rape into different types rapes, these are; Gang rape, Individual rape, Serial rape, Acquaintance rape, Date rape, Marital rape and statutory rape.

For the sake of time we will be discussing only three major types of rape

Statutory rape; this is a sexual relations between an underage female and adult even if the minor consent to the sexual act, the law considered it as nonconsensual. Though every country's law has different definitions for its age of consent. Mind you, gang, date, and individual rape can fall under statutory rape.

Marital rape; this is a forcible rape of a woman by her husband though few of such case are reported due to the fact that people believe husband have unlimited sexual access to his wife and must always comply her husband desire any day anytime.

Serial rape; it involves a professional rapist who has wealth experience on raping, in most cases serial rapist draw plan on how go about raping the victim.
