water & Information crisis
Water crisis not just crop production and clean water crisis. This is also of non-availability of information. Because information is key to efficient water management. Water is constantly in motion but what seems incredible is that we have no specific knowledge of when, where and how much water is in. The data available about earth's hydroology knowledge is exceptionally low. Some major rivers measure its flow, but not at all in small rivers or rivers.
Hydrobiological monitoring of large water bodies outside the United States and Europe is not at all. Information about small lakes, ponds, wet lands and marshy areas is zero. And in dams with water level monitors, this data is rarely made public. And this information gap means that millions of people don't know whether there will be water shortages or floods next week. The emergency worker does not know if the flood has reached the highest level. And the water level in many rivers is more concerned with the rainfall than how much water the dam operators built above will release. Unlike the natural condition of the river, many rivers become smaller as they move forward. Somewhere there are canals, some water bodies, sipping this water.
Since the Aswan Dam was built, almost all the waters of the Nile river are either diverted for agriculture or are affected by water storage. The reserves built on Africa's Volta river system are four times the total capacity of the river. Dajla and Farat, Thailand's My Klong, Argentina's Rio Negro, The Colorado of the United States are similarly controlled rivers. But hydrobiological data is rarely available. In many countries it is kept secret so that the neighbours who come forward in the river do not know that the water sharing agreement is not being violated. But there is a solution that can be done from heaven.
Arno Rod Rigs has invented radar technology called Carin. It will be sent to space in November 2022 in a satellite called SWOT. This satellite will stare at the ground with the help of two radars. Scan millions of rivers, lakes, beaches and wet places on the earth's revolving face.
Day and night, it will get satellite data and keep its hands on the pulse of earth's plumbering. For the first time such complex data will be found in such detail and then this data will be posted online for free use. Billions of people care about the availability and fortune of water. Life depends on it.
It is not easy to launch such a project through political complexes. Hopefully, the information crisis will end in the coming decades. Water secrets and question marks will no longer remain. And this information will completely change the research and management of the most essential natural... ( continue )
