Any true fan will tell you, with well over 900 episodes and counting, that One Piece is more than just an anime: it's a way of life. He takes things so much further when Oda writes a story by adding themes and metaphors that represent the real world beautifully. For this reason, One Piece has taught me more than any textbook will ever teach me about life. These are just 12 of the countless lessons of life that one can learn from One Piece.
1. Don't ever give up on your dreams.
Through moments of extreme struggle, from Naruto Uzimaki to Eren Yeager, the trope of most anime protagonists is their impressive ability to retain their hope and hang on to their dreams. With a will above that of a deity, Luffy is definitely no exception to this, and most of all, he never questions himself for a second.
2. You don’t always have to win to be a hero
"If anime has taught me anything, it's that "even if you try is the best you can do, you can never feel guilty if you do your best." I can't even think about how many times characters have given everything they have in this show, even when they knew they didn't stand a chance.
3. The most important thing in life is friends and family.
Luffy always talks about how nothing is between him and his dream, but we all know he's going to lay down his life on the line and give it up for his nakama.
4. The best characters are still made by people with the most tragic backstories
In One Piece, every backstory is draped in tragedy and heart break, but as in life, we know that these are the things that form our values and make us who we are; our past is a present-day motivator. Although I'm not so sure, in Doflamigo's situation, this was a good thing.
5. don't judge a book by its cover
I mean, Luffy is a complete buffoon, but he is a force to be reckoned with when shit goes down. Every character has its absurdities. Never underestimate individuals and the things they are linked to.
6. Your rivals may also become your greatest allies or your dearest friends.
Nami swaan, Robin Chwaan, Franky, Bon Clay and even Crocodile, you're going to have to hate a human in one episode and love them in the next. It teaches us a valuable lesson about judgment and how a little understanding can change perception drastically sometimes.
7. You can't get back what's lost, you can only rely on what you have
This one is a quote directly from the great and wise Jinbe, but it was taught throughout One Piece time and time again-just think of when we lost the Merry.
8. Until you have to, you never know how much you can bear.
Just when you think someone's down for the count, they're still going a little harder and coming out okay in the end. Life can get the best of you sometimes, but it's important to keep going; you're more resilient than you think.
9. Japanese humour is absolutely perverted (and I love it)
If you watch any anime, get ready for a plethora of boobies, asses, and jokes about being a pervert... "Excuse me, can I see your panties?" ”
10. Anything in Japanese sounds better (or any language other than English for that matter)
I once studied Spanish... I didn't retain anything. But Japanese has become my native language after faithfully watching One Piece (I wish).
11. Discrimination is never all right,
It is because of prejudice that his tragic end was met by Fisher Tiger. But amid all the struggles viciously thrust upon him by human beings, he still understood that not all of them were evil, and eventually tried not to hate them. He knew hatred just fuels hate, and he died trying to put an end to the loop.
12. Nothing is wrong with being who you are.
Ivankov serves as a living testament that, in their own skin, everybody should be able to live comfortably. Be assured in yourself, whether it's male, female or something in between, short or tall, blonde or purple, heterosexual or gay. Wear what you want, behave as you want, and just be true to yourself. That's the Way of Okama!
