Technology has made people's lives easier. At present, people's way of life, modern life has become completely dependent on technology. So modern life cannot be imagined without technology. Thanks to technology, human life is becoming more dynamic and more developmental. That is why the whole world is becoming a technology dependent world. This is an integral part of modern life. The communication system has become easier and easier with the development of this technology. In a moment the message is being sent from one end of the earth to the other. This method is the e-mail method.
*What is E-mail? :
E-mail or electronic mail is a digital message that is sent through a computer network. E-mail is the short form of electronic mail. It is a method by which people communicate with each other with the help of digital technology. Although it is a text based communication system but with the modernization of technology today it is possible to send files, pictures or playing videos in various formats as attachments. In a word, it is a fast and secure means of communication through which any kind of information can be sent instantly from one place to another.
*History of E-mail:
At an early stage, e-mail was sent between two computers. Orpanet networks were used to send e-mails between the two computers. In the beginning, many research institutes wrote programs in it to exchange messages. At that time instant chat could be done with the help of different terminals. In the early 1960's, many research institutes developed programs for sending text messages. In 1972, researcher Barry Wessler was able to successfully send e-mails. In 1960, researchers at the University of California made further advances in e-mail technology. Commercial e-mail was introduced in 1986. E-mail became popular online in 1993. At first, the use of e-mail was limited to sending and receiving messages. But with the advent of technology in modern times, it has become possible to send pictures and videos along with messages. Its circulation in the military increased in 1974. Officers used e-mail to send important orders to various battlefields. Tomlinson used the @ symbol in 1982 to send information from one computer to another. And since then, 'username-host' has been used as an e-mail address. After that the development of e-mail system started to be achieved gradually.
*E-mail service providers:
In 1986, a number of e-mail service providers started their journey with the help of researcher Larry Roberts. At present, customers can exchange e-mails offline within a specific network in addition to online through Microsoft Outlook. Currently, many companies are providing e-mail services. Some of the notable organizations are Gmail, Zoho Mail, AIM Mail, GMX Mail, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Mail Classic, Gaob.com, Inbox.com, Fast Mail.com, MySpace Mail, Care to Mail, Mail.com. .
*How e-mail works:
First an e-mail is sent from the sender's e-mail client or workstation via the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). This mail must include the recipient's address. This mail arrives in the public Internet area, crosses different routers, and is stored on the e-mail server designated for the sender's mail. If the recipient's e-mail address is under the same Mail Transfer Agent (MTA), the e-mail server sends the mail directly to the recipient. And if there is a different MTA, then the e-mail server will send that mail to a different e-mail server. The e-mail server will send the mail to the recipient's address using SMTP. Basically the address of the recipient or the space for the mail is in that mail server. The mail is then stored in the recipient's email inbox as unread status. If the reader opens the e-mail and reads the e-mail, the status of the e-mail will change to read status. If the sender sends an attachment with the mail, he can download it and save it on the local computer.
*Parts of an e-mail:
An e-mail message consists of three parts. Recipient's e-mail address, message subject and message. The e-mail address is divided into two parts. The first part is the username. It is followed by the @ sign. It is followed by the name of the organization of the user concerned. For example - "abc@def.com" in this address abc is the username and def.com is the name of the user's mail service provider.
*E-mail users:
E-mail started its journey in 1993. There are currently 2.2 billion e-mail users worldwide and about 144 billion emails are exchanged every day. Gmail, the world's largest e-mail service provider, has 425 million users. As of January 2013, there are 2.4 billion e-mail users worldwide. Of these, 1.1 billion users are from Asia. 519 million from Europe, 264 million from North America, 18 million from Africa, 90 million from the Middle East, 24.3 million from Australia and 575 million from China.
*Caution in using e-mail:
The age of online is on. And the main means of using online services is e-mail. But if the control of e-mail goes to someone else, it is a cause of danger. Those who transact online through e-mail may have zero bank accounts. Therefore, in order to prevent the e-mail account from being hacked, it is very important to protect the privacy of the mail and take precaution. Hackers steal e-mail passwords using various software, so you have to use quite complex passwords to get rid of hacking. It is better to give a password with letters and numbers. Passwords can be changed from time to time if possible.
Science has made human life easier. And the modern addition of science has made the communication system through e-mail easier and better, and the risk has also increased. So we can enjoy the full benefits of science without resorting to any evil. So science must always be used for positive purposes. Use e-mail at all times to be careful not to use it unnecessarily.
