Arsenal complete transfer of Gabriel Magalhaes

Arsenal have completed the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

The Brazilian defender moves to the Emirates, penning a long-term deal, for a fee understood to be in the region of £27million.

The Gunners have fought off interest from a number of other sides to land the centre-half, including Italian side Napoli and Premier League rivals Everton.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta declared: "He has many qualities which will make us stronger as a defensive unit and as a team.

"He has proved with Lille that he is a defender with many outstanding attributes.

“We are looking forward to watching him grow as an Arsenal player."
