The world has witnessed a number of massive social revolution. One of the first major revolutions in history perhaps was when humankind learned to speak. Later the human race experienced the first agricultural revolution when humankind stopped merely hunting and gathering, and began planting. This saw the beginning of civilization, as human populations began to settle in one place. More recently, there was the industrial revolution.

And now, in our own lifetime, there is the information technology revolution. Today, we are confronted by a large number of technology innovations with huge social effects. Perhaps non are as great as the advent of information communication technology, including in particular the development of computers and mobile communications. For example, the use of mobile phones, which has made the communication more easy and accessible throughout the world.

The cell phone is in use in every streets around the countries of the world, we cannot walk down a street without being accosted by street vendors selling variety of large cards. This is a worldwide phenomenon.

Cellphones are without doubt extremely useful. However, the increase in communication does not necessarily mean an improvement in the quality of communication: when talking on a cellphone, our conversations tend to be more abrupt and functional, when talking to each other face to face, our interaction is richer and fuller and is also no doubt enhanced by our body language.

Computers too can be used for communication, and have had, and are having, a huge impact on the way we live, study, work and interact.

The computer can be used as a means of communicating orally, but much more widespread is the use of email, and internet web chat, which enables us to send instant messages to people in the next door house or to the other side of world!

But for student, perhaps the most important functions of a computer are its word processing capabilities, which greatly improves our approach to writing and it's information storage and retrieval capabilities, which gives us almost instant access to vast quantities of information at the touch of a button.

But computers also have their dangers if we rely too heavily on them, then we may become paralysed if when they spoiled or out of power supply. In addition to that, those who rely fully on computers may forget how to write, they are also in danger of forgetting how to use other print based sources of information. Above all, they can be so overwhelmed by welter of information at their disposal this might make them to forget how to think.

Perhaps the biggest danger of all is that of assuming that because something is accessible on a computer, it's must be true.. We may begin to trust everything we read on the computer, anything we read in the newspaper.
