Splinterlands

One of the many cards that I like in the Splinterlands game is Venator Kinjo. It is one of the most potent cards when used for the proper gameplay. It's very difficult to take it out unless you attack the card directly. If not, the Venator just absorbs all that can be thrown at it.

Just look at the stats. This is a camouflage card and hence cannot be attacked unless in the first position. Besides, even the base version of the card has a reflection shield; which means, it cannot take blasts, magic reflect, thorns, or return fire attacks. In other words, it can only be attacked directly, and that too only when it is in the first position.

Quite a crazy card, right? You bet. How about we see the Venator in action? Let’s go then but before that a minor diversion. First, let’s understand more about Splinterlands. After all, that’s where you will find the Venator.

What Game is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. *The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.* By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.

Venator Kinjo | The Monk that Cannot Be Touched

If the base version of the Venator card is deadly enough the leveled-up version is the kiss of death. Being a Legendary card, it just requires 11 cards to power up completely. Here is how it looks.

That’s a total badass card. The Venator gets Immunity, Slow, and Amplify powers too. And all this while it is still camouflaged. If you thought you could get it by blast, opportunity, sneak-and-snipe, scattershot, or any other powers, it simply won’t work. You can do nothing until the card comes to the first position. Until then you can only pray that the Venator does not dent your offenses too much.

Time to see the Venator in battle. Here we go.

The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows

The rule in play was the blast rule and so the working for me was easy. I always use a taunt monster in the first place and the Venator in the second place. That’s it. It usually does me good.

The taunt monster will attract all the attacks and the blast from the attacks will fall on the Venator. The Venator will remain unaffected and the rest of the lineup remains undisturbed. At the same time, I continue attacking the opposition out of the battle.

By now you would have guessed that the team on the upper half is mine while the opponent’s team is in the lower half of the screen. Both of us have gone for the Water Splinter while I have used Bortus as the summoner. Bortus reduces the opponent’s magic monsters attack value by 1. The Kraken is my taunt monster in the first position.

The opponent has used Kelya Frendul as their summoner. This gives each of the monsters in the lineup additional speed and shield. That’s a good strategy as the shield is also good to use during the blast rule. Anyway, let’s see how the battle progresses.

The Face-Off Screen

Once the battle started it was apparent that I was resisting the attack from the opponent a lot. Even by the middle of the second round, my team was looking good.

All this was possible because of the Venator. The opponent at this point had lost one of the monsters while second and third-position monsters had also taken some beating.

The battle was not over yet, though.

We Battle Hard

Only near the end of round 3 does my taunt monster succumb bringing the Venator to the first position.

But now in the first position, it is just a matter of time for the Venator. And the swish of the opponent’s sword was quick and merciless. The Venator succumbed. Nonetheless, I think the Venator’s presence till round 3 would have already won me the battle.

And I was right. The Venator ensured that my team won. By the end of round 4, the opponent’s team was vanquished.

And I won! 😊

The Battle Rule Is Easy-Peasy | With Venator on Your Side

This is the main advantage of the Venator in the blast rule. It can be of use in other rules too as none of the monsters will directly attack it. When used correctly, the Venator can land you an easy win.
