Splinterlands | Reflection and Magic Armor Rule | I Wanted to Surrender
Splinterlands
Every once in a while we encounter that one battle where we aren’t sure what to do. We want to take magic cards but can’t. We want to choose our favorite summoner but can’t. We can’t even get the splinter we want since it is unavailable for the battle. What do we do?
Well, we battle anyway. It is quite exciting if we end up on the winning side. Let’s look at a battle that is exactly the way I described so far. But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, rules, and monsters.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. *The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.* By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too. And now the sales of the Rebellion packs, the newest of the lot, have also started.

Interesting Battle
Although I call the battle an interesting one, it is anything but interesting. We can’t take anything we want into the battle. It is one of those times when we feel that we can just surrender and move on to the next battle instead of losing time on a battle we don’t know what to do.
But what do we do? We still battle. Because experience in Splinterlands has shown me that if we are confused then there is a chance the opponent is also. So, it's still not game over. We should battle instead of giving an easy win to the opponent.
The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows
We will take a look at the rules and then proceed to the battle.
Now we will understand why I felt it was a difficult battle. The battle was a 24-mana one and that was the easier part. The rules in play are what made it a bit difficult. The rules were – only-more-than-three attack power cards can be taken into battle. In addition, magic reflect and magic-hits-armor first rules were in play. So, it made zero sense to take magic monsters. Was it worth playing?
It did not seem so, but I did anyway.
The Face-Off Screen
And here is the lineup.
And here’s further corroboration of my decision to fight. Look at the opponent’s team. If I had surrendered, the opponent would have gotten away with an easy win where he/she should have ideally lost.
To make things clear, the opponent’s team is at the top of the screen while mine is at the bottom. The opponent got just one monster into the battle while I had two of my stronger cards. I also got a summoner that would trim the opponent’s armor. That helped very well.
Let’s look at the battle.
We Battle Hard
The battle had hardly anything to do with hard.
At the end of just one round, the opponent’s lone monster had taken some serious damage. The health was down to four and it had to face another round of attacks from my two monsters.
Will the opponent survive?
And The Battle Races to Conclusion
The battle did not race but sprinted to conclusion.
It just took the middle of round 2 to get the curtains down. Wasn’t it an easy victory? What a shame it would have been if I had surrendered. It would have been such a waste.
This is proof that we shouldn’t surrender lightly.
A Hard-Fought Battle | An Interesting Result
This was one battle where the fight happened even before the battle started. The fight was me against me wanting to surrender and move on to the next battle. Thank God, I did not do that and instead went into the battle. I am sure you all would have noticed how easy it was. Needless to say, I won! 😊
I loved the battle. How about you? I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle too. You can also look at it live in the links provided below. Have fun! 😊
