Splinterlands | Quora Towershead | Snatching Victory From the Jaws of Defeat!
Splinterlands | Quora Towershead
One of the cards that I love playing with lately is Quora Towershead. It is a dual-attack card from the Gladius set. The card was earlier unavailable for regular battles, but with a few summoners that can summon gladiator (Gladius pack cards) cards, the Quora can be used in regular battles too.
Now, the stats of Quora will tell you why this is one of the strongest cards when used in the right battle. The Quora’s dual attack involves magic and melee attacks, but the deadly one is the blood-lust ability. That ability, coupled with the dual-attack makes Quora almost unstoppable in most battles.
Let’s see Quora in action, shall we? But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, rules, and monsters.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. *The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.* By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too.

Quora | Blood Thirsty | Dual Attacker
As I mentioned, Quora is now available for regular battles if we use the summoner that allows one gladiator card. Because Quora has a magic attack element, it works well even if the opponent has a shield. This sets Quora apart from other dual attackers that have ranged and melee attacks and have to attack monsters with shields.
But what happens when the magic impacts shield rule is in play? That is, even magic attacks will have to take out shields before
impacting health. In such circumstances, magic attacks are as good as melee or ranged attacks. Will Quora be effective still? That’s what we are about to find out.
The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows
A quick look at the rule, and we get going.
The battle is a low-mana one. It has a mana cap of just 15, and therefore, makes it difficult to take more monsters if Quora is chosen. Also, the shield impact rule is in play. This means Quora’s magic will first impact the shield before hitting the health of the opponent’s monsters.
As I mentioned before, Quora’s dual attacks would be as good as a melee or ranged attack in this case.
Let’s jump to the battle.
The Face-Off Screen
Here are the opponents face-to-face.
My team is at the bottom of the screen, and the opponent is at the top. I had chosen Quora and a martyr-ability monster. As soon as the monster in the first place drops, Quora will have each of her stats increased by one. Also, I had the summoner with thorns, which would make it difficult for the opponent’s melee attackers. To my luck, all of the opponent’s monsters were melee.
However, since the shield-impact rule was in play, the opponent chose the right summoner for the play. Keyla from the Water Splinter will give each of the friendly monsters one additional shield and speed. That, technically, will make it difficult for me to win.
How about we proceed to the battle?
We Battle Hard
By the middle of round 2, Quora was the only card alive from my side.
All the melee attackers have hit Quora, and her health is down to four. One good thing is that because of the thorns, all the opponents' shields are down. Quora’s attacks would have a larger impact.
And The Battle Races to Conclusion | I Got It In the Bag
But as soon as Quora started attacking from the middle of round 2, the blood-lust ability got activated. That sounded the death knell for the opponent.
And over here, too, it was Quora’s time to attack. Needless to say, the melee attacker was knocked out, and in the very next round, the last standing melee attacker was also taken out. That’s it.
I won.
A Hard-Fought Battle | I Won!
This is one of the battles where you are unsure if Quora alone could do the task, and you take her into battle anyway. Quora was close to defeat, but the turn of events worked in my favor. Quora and my summoner in tandem worked well.
Just like that, Quora snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. I loved it. I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle. Do take a look at it live in the link provided below. Enjoy!
Namaste!
