Splinterlands | Opponent Stunned Five Consecutive Times | And I Won!
Splinterlands Battles
Stun is one of the baddest abilities any card can have and I have been on the receiving end of this ability often. What is the stun ability? A Stun ability is one where one attack from a stun monster will disable the card being attacked, and therefore, miss the next turn. This is similar to miss-a-turn which we had in board games of old.
But the stun ability, as designed, is to work for 50% of the attacks. Meaning, that if the stun card attacked ten times, it would work five times. However, in my case, it was different.
Let me show you instead of telling you. But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, rules, and monsters.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. *The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.* By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too. And now the sales of the Rebellion packs, the newest of the lot, have also started.

Stun Ability | Is It Truly Stunning?
As I mentioned before, the stun ability is designed to work 50% of the time, and that’s how it works. I had been unlucky a few times when the opponent’s stun card continuously affected my card and prevented me from playing. More often than not, we would lose if we were at the receiving end of stun.
And that’s what happened in this battle but in my favor. My stun card continuously disabled the opponent’s bloodlust card. This one act turned around the game. If not for the stun, I would have lost by miles.

The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows
We will look at the rules and then proceed to the battle.
This is a low mana battle with the Divine Shield and Armor in play. So, that automatically gives us an initial safety net despite being a 15-mana battle. Earth and Water Splinters are not allowed in this battle, while all other Splinters are on. Even if I wanted to take Quora, it was just not possible. 😊
Now, we proceed to the battlefield.
The Face-Off Screen
And here is the lineup.
My team is at the bottom of the screen while the opponent is at the top. The opponent has a summoner that removes armor. So, the armor from the game is removed by the opponent’s summoner. I can only benefit from the Divine Shield while the opponent has both Divine Shield and Armor.
The deadly assassin of the opponent’s team is in the third position, and that’s what I am afraid of. It will take out my monsters with low health and the bloodlust ability of the card will power it up. That’s a card that can change the game in no time.
Little did I know at that point that the game would still go my way.
We Battle Hard
Battling hard is an understatement. I was frightened for my team.
See that? The last card is powered up already and it's not over. The monster in the first position of the opponent’s lineup has martyr-ability. What that means is that it will perish and power up the last card once more. There is no way, I would win from here.
And yet I did.
And The Battle Races to Conclusion
The battle, actually, refused to get over.
What you see here is the first of the five stuns that my card in the second position delivered. Look at the stats of the opponent’s tank. It was more than enough to take out my entire team and yet that did not happen.
Because for the next four rounds, my card kept stunning the opponent, and that allowed my team to keep nibbling at its health. And I won.
That was crazy!
A Hard-Fought Battle | An Interesting Result
Without those continuous stuns, I wouldn’t have won. This does not happen always and once in a while, you get the benefit of a monster with stun ability. I was lucky and I won!
I loved the battle. How about you? I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle too. You can also look at it live in the links provided below. Have fun! 😊
