Introduction
Tell me that I am the first one to have tried out the Lobstradamus and posted about it. Or at least I am one of the firsts. Alright, even if it is neither, here is another first that I got. The Lobstradamus was my first ever airdrop on Splinterlands after so many many of them went by. So, quite excited that it happened after all. 😊
I am still a bit unsure whether the Lob was the first airdrop or the Halfling Alchemist. I have reasons to believe that the Halfling would have been my first. Anyway, for those who don’t know, the Halfling Alchemist was a card that Splinterlands released at the Bitcoin halving event. Halving and Halfling – see the connection? 😊
Fine, I get it that this post was about the Lobstradamus, and I am going all around the world. I know. I know. I am just excited that I got an airdrop. Did you know that the gold version of the Lobstradamus costs $20? That’s a pretty decent-priced card. Also, it is one of the few cards where the stats are so conducive to take the card in almost all battles where it fits.
Before we get to know more, how about getting to know about Splinterlands first? After all, readers should know where the card is available in the first place. Right? I guess so. So, here we go.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Well, it is one of the earliest blockchain-based collectible games. Though I started playing the game relatively late, I should have had gotten going early in hindsight. Anyway, no need to despair. There are so many opportunities no matter when you start.
*Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn on the cards. It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments that you can play or guilds that you can join.*
*Just to give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands - read my story of getting cards worth $327 for buying few packs worth $20 only.*
And this is just a small number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. This means the game has interested buyers for your cards too. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace.
Now, if all that interests you and you want to try out the game, then I am leaving a link below for you to join.

Lobstradamus| Very Good Magic Monster
As I mentioned in the earlier section, the Lob is one of the few monsters with favorable stats. It packs a punch with nine-life (and yet it is not a cat) for a mana cost of six. This makes it incredibly versatile to fit into battles spanning the low, medium, and high mana cap ones. Besides, even in the battles, it can stand rules like earthquake, poison, and others where monsters possibly lose health round-after-round. So, yeah, a good choice.
The Lobstradamus is part of the Water Splinter, and I hope you had no doubts about that one. I mean, who would confuse Lobster as not being a part of the water splinter. 😊 It comes with a magic attack value of one. That may not sound much, but when you have summoners like the Alric Stormbringer, then you know that you can use the Lob with enhanced attack power. Also, I haven’t come across any magic monsters yet with a shield ability from the base level. So, the Lobstradamus would be the first, in my opinion. At least, the first in my kitty.
While the stats and abilities are impressive, it just gets better as it levels up. Here is how it looks.
The only stats which does not increase or improve is the speed. It will always be the slowest monster but could do well in reverse-speed matches. The attack value, too, increases by one only at the highest level. Lob does not get armor at any level. I guess its natural shell is good enough. Hehehh.
Other stats of the Lob goes through the roof, though. The health increases to twelve, but you would understand the benefits of that when you know that the Lob gets two more abilities. It gets the reflect-ability to hit back at magic monsters at level three and thorns to hit back at melee attackers at level five. With those abilities, the health of twelve is way too much. Not bad for a water dweller!! 😊
But the proof of the pudding is to see the great Lobstradamus in battle. So, let’s go.
Lobstradamus in Battle
I found a battle where I could take the Lob into but surely wasn’t the ideal one to test it. But, hey, there would be many more opportunities for sure.
The 32-mana cap battle was ideal. Since the monsters-lose-all-abilities rule was in play, we would not be able to test the shield-ability of the Lobstradamus. That said, we can still look at its raw attacks. 😊. The health-equalizer rule coupled with the all-abilities-lost rule was interesting. Why? Because not only did we need attack monsters but also strong ones to finish off the opposition faster as all had equal health.
I chose the water splinter with magic attackers. The reason is obvious. All my magic monsters will have enhanced attack value because of the summoner, Alric Stormbringer, which should make the battle interesting.

The Face-Off
Both my opponent and I chose the Water Splinter and Alric as our summoners. Needless to say, both of us had thought of bringing magic monsters to the game. Now, it all depended on who got the most firepower. From the looks of it, the game appeared in my favor. But then again, let’s first get to know both sides.
Interestingly, the Lobstradamus had the highest health, which eventually became the health of all monsters. 😊
The opponent’s lineup
Summoner: Alric Stormbringer | Ability – Increases magic attack value of all friendly monsters by one.
Monsters:
Position 1: Frozen Soldier | A melee attacker with an attack value of two.
Position 2: Enchanted Pixie | Magic attacker with an attack value of one.
Position 3: Prismatic Energy | Magic attacker with an attack value of one.
Position 4: Medusa | Magic attacker with an attack value of one.
Position 5: Elven Mystic | Magic attacker with an attack value of one.
Position 6: Tower Griffin | Ranged attacker with an attack value of one.
My thoughts were that the opponent did not get strong magic attackers. That’s something I did. Let’s look at my lineup now.
Summoner: Alric Stormbringer | Ability – Enhances magic attack value of friendly monsters by one.
Monsters:
Position 1: Frozen Soldier | A melee attacker with an attack value of two.
Position 2: Furious Chicken | If the Frozen Soldier falls, the Furious Chicken will hold the first position for some time. This would further shield the monsters behind.
Position 3: Dwarven Wizard | Magic attacker with an attack value of one.
Position 4: Lobstradamus | Our champion and a magic attacker.
Position 5: Coral Wraith | Magic attacker with an attack value of two.
Position 6: Phantom of the Abyss | Magic attacker with an attack value of three.
Now, isn’t that obvious that my monsters are stronger? Besides, Alric will further enhance the attacks. It is a no match, in my opinion. But then we are here to see the Lobstradamus in action. 😊
-------------******-----------------
The Battle Begins
At the end of round one, the very last monster to attack was the Lobstradamus. That is because of its speed. But if you noticed, the opponent has already lost the Frozen Soldier because of my heavy attack monsters. If you just combine the attack value of all my magic monsters, it adds up to eleven. That means, in every round, one monster of the opponent would be gone.
So, nothing much to expect but for the slow but sure demise of the opponent’s monsters before they could damage mine.

The Battle Races to Conclusion
Well, the screen tells the story. The Lobstradamus in action again, and soon after, the opponent’s Griffin came to the first position and could not attack. So, it was game over in the next round.
That’s it. I won, and we saw the Lobstradamus in action.
Lobstradamus | First Impression | Not bad!
The Lobstradamus was not bad in battle. We still have to test it out for its abilities and under different rules. But hey, this was just my first impression, and I am happy with the Lob.
As I see the Lob in action more and more, I will surely post about it if I see something out of the ordinary. So, keep watching this space. I will come back soon. 😊
