Splinterlands | Earthquake Rule | Brighton Bloom to the Rescue
Splinterlands | Earthquake Rule
After the Poison rule, I find the Earthquake rule the most challenging. Of course, Poison is the most challenging one, especially if you are not using the cleanse ability. That said, we will keep the poison rule for discussion in another article.
The Earthquake rule has been there for as long as I remember. It is one of the toughest to encounter and come out trumps. In the past, the way to counter earthquake rule was to get armor, so that it is the armor that gets depleted when the first earthquake shatters the monsters. That worked and still works when I have no choice but to use the extra armor.
There is another way to tackle the Earthquake rule. Why not use a summoner that transforms all our regular monsters into flying ones? That's precisely what I do by using Brighton Bloom during such encounters. Imagine fighting with your opponent and never having the earthquake hit your monsters. That's a definite guide to winning. So, let's see more of Brighton in action.
How about getting to know Splinterlands a bit more before entering the battle arena. After all, don't the readers need to know where to find Brighton? Makes sense? Let's jump straight into Splinterlands.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. *The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.* It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments that you can play or guilds that you can join.
Just to give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands - read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying a few packs worth $20 only.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. This means the game has interested buyers for your cards too. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace.
*If this is not enough, then Splinterlands has just launched the governance token SPS, which is being airdropped to all Splinterlands players over the year. So, you are not late. Get on with the game and earn SPS today. SPS is listed on exchanges, too.*

Brighton Bloom | The Nemesis of the Earthquake Rule
Brighton Bloom belongs to the Dragon Splinter and gives all friendly monsters the flying ability. This is the single most strong point while playing the earthquake rule. I win 95% of the games where I use Bloom during the rule. The only time the opponent gets the better of me is when they also use Bloom and a better monster combination. Otherwise, it is clearly my win.
It is not always smooth sailing, though. Times, when the Dragon Splinter is not available during the earthquake rule are the ones where I have to improvise. The only way out is to use the traditional approach of resorting to summoners with armors or those that remove armor from the opponent's monsters. That works too but not as foolproof as Brighton Bloom.
I am sure we want to see Bloom in action, so let's jump into the arena.
Sending Bloom to Battle
It surprises me that players don't use Bloom often; at least, I haven't come across many using the summoner. I think it is an excellent summoner to invest in. Worth it completely.
The battle in discussion had the earthquake rule in play and health-equalizer. So, that was a great one, in my opinion. Here is what the opponent and my lineup looked like. I guess I was against a bot this time. 😊
The lower half of the screen is my monsters, while the upper one is the opponent's. The opponent had chosen the Fire Splinter, whereas I had gone with the Dragon Splinter. I paired up Dragon and Death Splinter, and that's how most of my monsters belong to the Death Splinter.

The Battle Begins
The opponent's monsters had a speed advantage over mine, and so had the first attack in many cases. Here is how it looked.
Though the start was great for the opponent, the Earthquake was unforgiving on them. I had a pretty solid stand by round three while the opponent was already faltering.
And you can see the earthquake taking out the Serpentine Spy. I had just lost the Fiend and the Furious Chicken by this time. So, not a bad game for me.

Racing to Conclusion
It did race to conclusion as the curtains came down in the third round itself.
See the advantage of Brighton Bloom? Quite a handful for the opponent, right? 😊
That's It | I Won
I have come across games where opponents have used the Water Summoner Vera Salacia for the earthquake rule. It is an excellent summoner to counter Bloom. Vera gives all friendly monsters the ability to remove the flying ability from the opponent's monster when they attack. So, it counters Bloom's ability. However, not all monsters of the opponent can attack all monsters of mine, so some continue to have the flying ability. The other problem is that Vera would hardly help her own lineup against the earthquake rule, and that pushes the advantage to me. While Vera is a good counter, it may not be as good in all battles during the earthquake rule.
Anyway, my statistics of winning at least 95% of the games with Bloom during the earthquake rule stays. Let's see how that pans out in the future. 😊
