Kenyan journalist Victoria Rubadiri has won the BBC's Komla Dumor 2020 Award.
Rubadiri is a presenter for Citizen TV in Kenya.
She is a professional journalist who specializes in East African affairs and has interviewed leading figures in politics and current affairs.
The award was created in honor of Komla Dumor, a BBC presenter who passed away suddenly at the age of 41 in 2014.
Rubadiri is the sixth winner of the award, following in the footsteps of Solomon Serwanjja, Waihiga Mwaura, Amina Yuguda, Didi Akinyelure and Nancy Kacungira.Β She is the second Kenyan to win it.
She will begin a three-month internship with the BBC by attending classes in the Department of Journalism before joining the team that produces news on television, radio and the internet.
"Komla is a multi-disciplinary journalist, whose unique style is both entertaining and inspiring to the listener. He impresses me with his ability to hold his audience accountable by telling the truth," Rubadiri said.
"I'm excited to learn new things at the BBC that will allow my listeners at home and abroad to stay with me on every foot," she said.
She impressed the judges with her eloquence and willingness to cover Africa through modern and traditional media.
