E-Chatting means Electronic chatting or chatting online which means having a conversation with people over the internet. The chatting feature of the internet let's you instantly communicate with people anywhere in the world by sending and receiving messages in real time.

The meeting spots for having online conversation as chat are called "chat rooms". The chat server is what allows many person to log on at the same time. When you enter a chat room you will see name of people who are already there and a window in which a few lines of text are constantly moving forward.

The lines are the messages being sent by various members of the chat room to their chat partners. Once you join the room you can read other person's messages and then send your messages to one or all the chatters. Every chatter has a login name which he uses for his identification and whatever he typed appears in the general conversation window.

There are two types of chat rooms namely; public chat room and private chat room.

1. Public chatroom: This chatroom is open to everyone that is anyone can join.

2. Private chatroom: This chatroom is not opened to everyone you can only join a private chatroom by indication or by subscribing to it and there is usually a fee attached.
