Saima saw her young aunt sitting on the floor crossed legged with eyes closed, breathing evenly.

She was about to question her when mother came in and told her to be quiet.

"Shhh..." mother gestured to Saima.

She left the room and mother followed her.

"Mother, what is Kyran aunt

doing?" Saima asked.

"Beta, this is called meditation. It is a kind of exercise that makes you feel calm, focused and at ease," mother explained.

"Can I do it too to increase my focus?" Questioned Saima.

"Yes, why not! Meditation is one of the easiest exercises to do, so children from the age of nine or ten can easily do this," explained further.

"Here, let me show you the simplest way to meditate.

Just sit and cross your legs, focus on your breathing and don't think about anything. Observe the things around you and notice how you feel now," mother explained.

I still don't understand mother," Saima told mother.

"Ok, let me give you a simpler technique.

Sit in a quiet place and focus on different parts of your body. Start from your toes to all the way to your head. Focus on each part; feet sole, heel, top of foot, legs, abdomen, lower back, upper back, chest, shoulders, arms, fingers, neck, and parts of your face. Pause at each part and notice different sensations," mother guided.

"This sounds easy," Saima quirked.

"A very easy way to meditate is to sit on your mat after you have finished your prayer, close your eyes and feel grateful for all you have. Focus on all the blessings Allah (SWT) has given you and be grateful," mother explained.

"Yes, that is a wonderful idea mother." Saima was now beginning to feel excited

"Let me give you some benefits of meditation too.

"With so many benefits, I would like to start right away," Saima said excitedly.

"But remember, you cannot begin to meditate on your own. Take help of a person who can guide you properly," mother advised.

"Sure, let me ask Kyran aunt," Saima left to talk to her aunt and see if she could start meditation right now.

Mother smiled.
