Earth is full of tourist attractions. In addition to these attractions, there are also tourism projects that were never built.
Soviet Palace in Moscow (Russia)
Construction of the Soviet-imposed palace on the ruins of the Church of Christ the Savior began in the late 1930s. The building was supposed to be an administrative center and a showcase for Soviet power.
The building of the Soviet Palace could have been one of the largest in the world at the time of its construction, but the German invasion of Russia in 1941 thwarted its long-term plans and turned the foundations of the palace into a swimming pool. It was the largest outdoor pool in the world for some time.
The Soviet Union was dissolved in the early 1990s, and construction of the new Cathedral of Christ the Savior began shortly afterwards. The church building can now be seen in Moscow.
Pyramid around Trafalgar Square in London, England
Trafalgar Square was built in 1845 to commemorate the discovery of Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in central London. Finding Nelson Memorial Pillar dominates Trafalgar Square Of course, a man named Sir Freddie Williams wanted to preserve the memory of the Battle of Trafalgar by building a pyramid larger than St. Paul's Cathedral, but fortunately his dream of building this pyramid never came true.
Illinois in Chicago (USA)
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed and planned the "Ambitious Illinois" skyscraper for the windy city of Chicago, but it was impossible to build at the time of its design.
If Illinois were built, it would be one of the tallest buildings in the world at a height of one mile (1,600 m). The tower can be seen on some of the paintings.
Wonderland Amusement Park in Beijing (China)
The decision to build Wonderland Amusement Park in Beijing was China's response to Disneyland, but construction was halted due to financial issues in the late 1990s, and the complex was never completed or unveiled.
Today, only one castle remains of the Wonderland Amusement Park project in Beijing.
Waltudney River Square on Louise Street (USA)
The Walt Disney River Square theme park was planned to be built on Louise Street in the 1960s. Finally, Walt Disney decided to implement the idea of building the theme park in another location, given the financial issues of building the Walt Disney River Square theme park.
Mineral King in California (USA)
Walt Disney's big plans in the 1960s included building a ski slope in California. Disney wanted to build a winter sports paradise in the Mineral King Valley, but questions were raised about the resort's profitability and conservatives condemned its construction.
Guggenheim Helsinki in Helsinki (Finland)
In early 2010, plans were made to build the Guggenheim Museum in the Finnish capital. The Guggenheim Art Museum could have been located in the southern port of Helsinki, but the Finnish government decided not to allocate funds for the construction of the museum, and the builders of the Guggenheim Museum could not find a replacement budget for the Finnish government, so the museum project ultimately failed.
Museum of Modern Art in Caracas (Venezuela)
The Caracas Museum of Modern Art was planned to be built in the 1950s. The museum was supposed to be built on a rock in the shape of a pyramid, but for unknown reasons it was never completed.
Hilton Hotel on the moon
The construction of the Hilton Hotel on the Moon is perhaps the most ambitious, failed tourist attraction. Baron Hilton announced the construction of a hotel with 100 rooms on the moon in 1960, but he never managed to do so, and building a hotel on the moon is still a mere fantasy.
