Throughout history we have had many myths around the world, each with its own philosophy. This time we want to talk about another of these legends that belong to the people of Northern Ireland, the legend that is said to have made a giant island.
The Giant Pass is located in the town of Antrim on the north coast of Ireland and is known as a mysterious island. Due to the appearance of this area, most Irish people did not dare to enter it for years. On this island, rocks and pillars are incredibly close together and in some of them there are large cracks.

For many years the people of Ireland believed that the Giant Causeway Passage area was created by a creature with superhuman powers. The story goes back to a huge Irish giant named Fillon macCumhaill who was in a challenge with one of the Scottish myths called the giant Benandonner. So when Fillon realizes that Benandur is stronger than him, he constantly hides from him.
Fillon's wife, Oonagh, cared for Fillon like a child and placed him in a cradle. When Benandour sees the size of a child in a cradle, he thinks that his father must be a giant among all the giants in the world. For this reason, he withdrew from the intensity of fear in front of Fillon's father, and by fleeing from this area, he caused the rocks to break and this natural attraction was created.
The reality of the giant passage story
The giant coastal passage with 40,000 interconnected basalt stone columns was created by a volcanic eruption in ancient times. Located in the county of Antrim on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles from Bushmills. About 50 to 60 million years ago during the Paleogene geological period, volcanoes around the city of Antrim were very active; Sometimes it erupted several times a day and its lava flows on the calcareous soils of the island and covers a large area of the surrounding land. Over time, these lava flows on the ground, covering cracks created by past eruptions and penetrating all fractures. The stone pillars start at the foot of the mountain and continue to the seashore and disappear into the water. The height of these columns sometimes reaches 12 meters.
