Mental Health: Maintaining Sane under COVID-19

2 20

Mental health is as vital as physiological health. It is not only essential for us to stay physically fit, but also we should maintain our emotions and minds under control and in great shape.

With the pandemic happening around the globe, almost everyone is anxious. WE started to worry and get a bit panicky because many things in our lives were compromised; our jobs, our social life, the life beyond our houses, and many other things that we usually do, that already became part of our system or our daily routines. And because we are not used to in staying within our own borders (homes), we begin to feel frustrated and sad.

But there are things that we can do to entertain ourselves in order for us to feel better and away from loneliness

  1. List possible activities that you could do at home. Since we only stays at home. Our usual activities are now impossible to do. Making such list will help us determine activities that are feasible to do that could make ourselves busy and could still be productive, and divert our attention from sadness at the same time. We can add on our list activities that involves learning new skills or find ourselves time to read. Cooking, or gardening perhaps.

  2. Acknowledge your emotions. Sometimes, even we distract ourselves by doing many activities or work, there are still times that we will find ourselves in the corner, feeling nothing but sad. One way to overcome loneliness is to acknowledge it. Identify why you feel that way and ask yourself what should you do to next.

  3. Contact your significant others. You only stayed at your home but you're not disconnected from your friends and family at all. Whenever you feel lonely, contact them and tell them what you feel because they will help you overcome it.

  4. Reflect. Having self-awareness can help individuals determine what's going on in their lives. They can easily identify problems with themselves and know how to solve those issues. They know when they are happy and they are aware if they are sad. They know when they need help and when they don't. Do some Reflection activity and try to know more about yourself. Start to ask how's your life going. What you are currently feeling. And try to determine how can you make your life happy and meaningful.

These are only some of the things that you can do to keep your mental health in good shape amidst the pandemic.

Please take everything with a pinch of salt. These may be applicable to everyone. But all in all, keeping our sane or being mentally healthy boils down in doing the things that will make us happy.

I suppose they're good ideas to consider but the covid situation is not as bad as it was before. The world had somehow started adjusting to it
