I wrote an article on why a person who is married might have things not working for them. You should go and read it once you are done with this. Every marriage comes with its own problems but when issues become recurrent and both partners are already drifting apart with no hopes or love amongst them, then there is a serious problem. This institution called Marriage that God created is very precious to Him and so, He is not happy that the devil is sitting with full force on the marital destinies of many. This is why if your marriage is hitting the rocks, you have to take it very serious because it signifies an attack on your marital peace and destiny.; What should you do?
FAST AND PRAY
An attack on your marriage is no joke and some things cannot be handled with mediocrity. Take time out to fast and pray to God for mercy. Tell God to have mercy on you and your spouse, invite the Holy Spirit back into your home and tell Him to take preeminence. Commit your marriage unto the Lord and let him start leading you and your spouse henceforth. Send the devil packing from your home. Your home is for the prince of peace and not for the confuser.
GO BACK TO YOUR SCRIPTURAL DUTY
The reason why so many marriages are hitting the rock is because many have left their scriptural duty post and are busy chasing clout and doing what no one asked them to do. I will do a post expatiating more on the scriptural duty of husband and wife. But whilst you await the post, go back to the word of God and search out your scriptural duty and start performing them diligently. The totality of your scriptural duty is in Ephesians 5:25,
Husbands, Love your Wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Remember that the love of Christ for the church is unconditional, even when the church goes astray. This means you must have unconditional, unquestionable and undebatable love for your wife. NO MATTER WHAT. This is the totality of your scriptural duty as a husband. If you want to be sure you are showing true love to your spouse, read 1Corinthians 13:4-7 to check the features of Love. If your love is missing any of these features, then it is not of Christ and you are not performing your scriptural duty correctly.
Wives, Submit to your Husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Wives are asked to submit unto their husbands NO MATTER WHAT. I hear many women say that, ‘how can they submit to a man who is this and that?’ Maybe you should go and ask God who gave you the instruction without question. If you know that you cannot follow God’s word to the latter, you shouldn't have considered marriage because marriage itself is war and if you are not ready to fight your negative behavior, you shouldn’t have entered. By submitting, you are becoming a Proverbs 31 woman. Make sure you read my post on the scriptural duty of husband and wife where I will be explaining fully what submitting to your husband means.
And to cover it all, the Bible says in 1 Peter 4:8, ‘Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins’. This means that both of you have the responsibility to show love to one another if you are going to prosper maritaly.
If you are experiencing marital problems, God is ready to turn things to your favor. Go to God in prayers and take up your scriptural duty. It is my prayer that the light of God will begin to shine in your marriage henceforth in Jesus name.
