Home Remedy for Cough
Nobody wanted to be sick especially that these days every sgmptom is associated with COVID-19. Who would like that, eh? Of cousre, no one. As much as possible we do home remedies at the very onset of signs and symptoms. So in my previous article I have mentioned that we got sick. It was because of the cold virus. Climate change also increases the chance of acquiring cough and colds. In the morning, it was too cold which is very unusual in a tropical country like us which should be warm this season. But when the sun is up, the temperature would suddenly increase. Air is very dry and humid with a gust of wind blowing. We all knew that cold virus is transmissible via air borne that whoever sneezes or coughs would probably spread it. At home with a limited space, the transfer of virus is much higher than those with a wider one. Pathogen such as dust would cause allergic reactions to those with weaker immune systems like that of the elderly and babies. However, it can be treated with simple water therapy to flush it out. But with little children, they might need to be brought to a pedia most especially that they can't bring the phlegm out. As for my case as I have mentioned, it was due to dust which I might have inhaled when I was cleaning at the fields. It had caused me a very dry cough and very itchy throat accompanied with stuffy nose. Aside from drinking hot water, gargling salt water, steamy hot bath and steam inhalation I also prepared olive oil-honey-lemon drink. It was a great relief because my throat tickled less and dry cough became loose that I was already able to bring it out. A mixture of honey and lemon was an old skool for cough, colds and flu while olive oil is not commonly known. So to prepare this we need; ***1/4 cup of honey, 1/4 cup lemon and 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil.***
Mix everything in a cylindrical container that is enough to contain everything then mix until well incorporated. For kids, you can give them a teaspoon in the morning and at night. For us adults, we can take a tablespoonevery three hours. **What do these ingredients have that can relieve symptoms of the virus?** **Honey** had long been discovered to have medical properties in the ancient times. It has antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory components. Traditionally, it had been used to treat cough. The antimicrobial and its anti-inflammatory properties are responsible in relieving the symptoms. It coats the throat giving a soothing effect with its viscous nature. **Lemon** is fortified with vitamin C and citric acid. These two elements combat infectious bacteria within the body and strengthen our immunity. Lemon helps in thinning the congestion of mucus. **Olive oil** has lots of benefits to our body. It is rich in antioxidants which are responsible in neutralizing free radicals in the body. It is rich in monounsaturated fat called oleic acid that reduces inflammation. When added to honey-lemon syrup, it helps with treating the inflammation in the throat and alleviates the tickling sensation. However, you have to look for extra virgin olive oil because if not then you might cause some health issues rather than benefitting from it. Nevertheless, this cough syrup should not be given to babies less than a year old. It causes botulism, a type of food poisoning that comes from raw honey. Honey is very much safe when a child is already a year old. With addition to this, take vitamins to keep our immune system strong. Because these days it's hard to be sick. Other remedies you can try are oregano extract with honey, coconut oil with honey and if you have humidifier run it. But, when symptoms persist consult a doctor especially when it is associated with other symptoms. **Conclusion** Stay hydrated at the very onset of symptoms of cough, colds and flu. Look in the kitchen for possible home remedy ingredients. 4/26/21 *****z_graeden*****

Wala kaming honey at lemon madam kaya sakin warm water lang talaga na may asin. Yong pag masakit na ang throat ko magmumumog na agad ako nyan para di na lumaala. Very effective namam hihi.
It won't work in my husbands case since it was already 2 weeks long when it started. So I need to brought him to a private clinic. Fortunately, i found more cheaper one.
Was it the clinic infront of NK? The time we went there, it's not dr ofo-ob's schedule.. ang mahal ng gamot ng ksama nya e generic lng nman na cefalexin not branded umabot ng 1k+.
I knew about others but never heard olive oils can help to get better from cold. Generally we mix the honey and lemon with hot water and drink itππ. If they are antioxident, it must be helpful thenπ
Yep.olive has many benefits to our body. However, you can take it alone if in case there's no lemon and honey. It alleviates the throat tickle
A very good home remedy. Thanks for sharing, though sa akin madalas tubig lang π
Aq din nman tsaka prone aq sa tonsillitis kya more on gargling warm salt water. My husband ksi told me na ung boss nya na nagbigay ng olive is pinapainom sa anak nya pag my ubo. When I tried it with my kids, sinuka lng nila kya buti at meron din xa binili na honey at naghanap aq ng lemon dto sa amin. Un nkakaya nilang lunukin. And tlgang nilulubricate nya ang dry throat kya laking ginhawa
I haven't tried olive oil for this kind of remedy but I wish to try it too π π π
Mama ko mahilig sa ganito pagka may nagkakasakit sa bahay. Ayaw nya palagi na uminom ng medisina. Gusto nya natural. Tas more on tubig.
Mas maganda p rin tlga ang herbal ksi nakakaimmune ang plaging pag-inom ng gamot at nkakaapekto sa ibang organs..
Oo dahil sa kemikal na hinahalom kaya ataw ng mama ko.
