For me, I always anticipate the comments of people. I want to know what they think about what I've written. I like to know their opinion
I'm exactly just like you. I also check how many have viewed it, or upvoted it. It just makes me happy especially if some has the same interest as mine.
The best is just to write without thinking of anything in return. Do it for the fun of it
Everytime I publish an article, I make sure it I hit a point or I shared something that could give a powerful impact to my readers. And, the comments I get from them, the compliments, they are too precious to me and motivates me to write well. It's fulfilling.
