Recovering my strength Today was a day for rest. Infrared photography: Oslo at 760+ nm Infrared photography is fascinating. It takes some skill to imagine what objects will look like after the camera filters out the visible light, and (often) we turn the saturation slider to a minimum. Spotted red toadstools I thought that the English word for Amanitas is toadstool, but today I learned that a toadstool can be any fungus that pops above the ground and has the typical mushroom shape. Still, colloquially, a toadstool tends to refer to poisonous fungi, while a mushroom would be an edible one. Colourful (and somewhat overprocessed) mushrooms I like strong, dramatic images. Well, maybe I went a bit far with the drama in these photos but, well, it's art. I love mushrooms and admire their varying colours and shapes. The first spring mushrooms have started popping up here and there but I only see them when my camera is at home... at least my phone takes good pictures, but of course, not DSLR quality. I'm so glad that there's a community for the friends of mushrooms...…

I went to a nearby park full of beautiful old oaks. They are not native to my country, so seeing them is quite rare. I love their huge thick trunks and the beautiful shape of their leaves. In autumn, they put on a pretty yellow coat.

Frosted forest tinsel I was out for a walk, and the moment I left the car, I saw an unusual sight. The trees and bushes were covered with fragile frosty tinsel. It was tricky to capture what the forest looked like, but I did my best to put the frosty strands against a dark background and put the lens wide open to limit the depth of field, so it looks a bit less busy... Foggy, frosty, icy — and a bit wet I saw a cute small red house — most likely storing some agricultural equipment. It looked lonely, covered by the thick fog. Frozen and thawed mushrooms ~ FungiFriday There have been several sunny days this month, and there are some patches of ground without snow. This is very unusual for this time of the year, and it gives the impression that winter is coming to its end already. Yet, I know that nature is playing tricks on us. Spring is still far away. The first flowers will pop up in mid-April at the earliest, and it will only take until May before the branches of the trees start turning green…
