Is it rude to ask friends if they know what mind maps are? Been getting crickets for minutes now in an otherwise active group chat.

Why would it be rude? 😲
Smart-shaming has become prevalent in some cultures, almost to the point of becoming part of a subculture where people learn to take offence at displays of 'higher' intelligence. In that particular group chat, l was told that people stay quiet until the topic is changed, whenever they would encounter topics that l start, that would go over their heads. So l thought maybe l made them subconsciously feel bad because of the thing l mentioned, & it was 'sub-rude', like a micro aggression. Anyway, for this particular encounter, my faith was restored because my friend admitted to not knowing what mind maps were. So l felt more freedom explaining what it was to him, but without sounding like an encyclopedia. I get really verbose at times, like how l am at this moment.
