Koi carp live in the rivers here! NZ A little bit of a different post but it’s something I’ve wanted to share for a while. Here in the Waikato river, Koi carp live naturally!? To me this is so crazy as I always thought of these as domestic fish that are bred for ponds etc, and that were sold for a lot of money. Well, that’s how it is in England anyway! But here there are HUGE koi fish living naturally in the river, and they are easy to spot as so many of them! I heard that years back people dumped a lot of koi fish into this river and they reproduced like crazy, and are now considered a pest... that’s the same with lots of animals that humans introduced into New Zealand...
