The peaceful grounds of the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda from my visit there in October, 2018. Over 250,000 victims of the 1994 Rwandan genocide are buried here. It's a beautiful place but also utterly sobering spot to visit. The visitor center includes stories about children who were murdered; what their favorite foods were, funny things they used to do, and exactly how they were killed. It's emotionally difficult to visit but it's also important to understand our past as humans so we can learn how not to repeat our mistakes. #Travel
