A day in the life of a public school teacher It's been three days since I last published an article here. I actually have several unfinished drafts but I am unable to finish them all due to being a busy bee these past few days. So while I am currently taking a rest from the overtime work, I decided to write a journal of this unforgettable experience. Today marks my second month as a public school teacher and this is one of the most unforgettable day I had because I feel more exhausted than ever. Today, all the teachers at our school are too busy preparing for the School-Based Management validation. It's an event at where the progress and accomplishments of the school during the past three years will be checked by Public Schools District Supervisors. I heard that seven supervisors will be coming tomorrow during the validation. We've been preparing for this for a couple of months already and we are excited yet nervous about this validation. This is the reason why I'm not active in going online. One of my seniors noticed that I have some creativity in me, so she asked me to make a layout of the school dashboard and make it into a tarpaulin. Who am I to say no? And I actually like doing those kind of tasks.

Yesterday, I spent the entire afternoon doing this so-called '***tarpapel***'. It is a word derived from '**tar**paulin' and '**papel**' (Filipino word for paper). I even worked overtime to finish it, however I still have to put in some data. So today, I made some charts for the school performance indicators and I can't believe that I can actually make it!

Tsadaaan! Here's the end-product of my effort! I'm quite satisfied of the ending and I'm happy that I'm able to do this without the help of others. While I'm trying to finish the school dashboard, I simultaneously helped my colleagues in cleaning the principal's office. We carried and transferred the furnitures and added a linoleum mat on the floor to make the office look more decent. I felt like I did an early mor ing workout! At the same time, some parents also looks for me asking of they can still get the activity sheets and module I released last week. To be honest, it is quite annoying because I already told them to come to school om friday, but they didn't. But still, I'm a considerate person so despite of my busyness, I still entertained them which added to my stress. At 10:30 a.m., my group mates requested my help. So I helped them sort out the documents we need for the validation. And then, another teacher/colleague looked for me and asked for my assistance since I will be one of the usherettes for tomorrow's event. So I told her I'll drop by at the site 2 of the school once I finished helping my group. I had a late lunch because I have to finish some documents and print it. I was also asked by one of my colleagues to get some documents photo-copied. Then I had to transfer the Instructional materials, so there's no time to rest during lunch time. Lunch time ended so work is resumed, though I've been working even during lunch. I was asked again to help. This time I was tasked to do a skirting on the table outside. It's my first time to do a skirting and I didn't know what to do. Good thing, one of the nice teachers here helped me. Then after helping my colleagues, I had to layout some labels again, then I was asked to help do the backdrop at the other room. I had to work overtime today and I'm staying at school over night too. Of there's one thing I learned today, it is: "when you're talented or have some skills, more people would want your service and it is very tiring. So better not to show off your skills". LOL. So that's it, I'll end this blog here for now. Good night.
