Sorry Durian, Marang Stole My Heart in Davao
They say you can’t truly say you’ve been to Davao if you haven’t tried Durian. So, during my trip, I decided to take on the challenge.
First, came the opening of the Durian. Let me tell you—this fruit is an adventure even before you get to taste it. The smell hit me like a surprise guest you weren’t ready for, and prying open its spiky armor felt like preparing for battle. But I was determined.
Then came the real test: tasting it for the very first time. One bite. Two chews. And… nope. Sorry, Durian fans, but it’s not for me. The creamy texture was interesting, but the flavor? Let’s just say my taste buds politely declined.
But Davao had one more treat for me—**Marang**. Unlike its spiky cousin, Marang welcomed me with its sweet aroma and soft, juicy pods. The moment I tasted it, I was hooked. Sweet, light, and refreshing—it was love at first bite! In the end, Durian might not have won me over, but Marang definitely did. That’s the beauty of trying new things—you never know which flavors will surprise you.
