Remember the years fuel prices were P22 per liter. Your P3,000 got you a cart full of groceries. Vacations didn’t feel like luxury. Infrastructure projects were all around. We had one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Those were Noynoy Aquino years, validated by a 2015 SWS survey that showed 88% of Filipinos were satisfied with their lives, a record number. To those who were fortunate enough to earn a decent wage during this time, you have to admit life was better. Unlike today where even a decent wage would leave you struggling to make ends meet. The Noynoy Aquino years were all about the economy, inflation, poverty reduction, quality of life. Today, national issues are dominated by politics. Who’s stealing what. Who betrayed whom. Who will run in the next elections. Mostly distractions to steer us away from talking numbers and facts. As it is often said, hindsight is 20/20. We had it good and we never even knew it. Instead, we bought into the scam that was “change is coming”.
