It’s inevitable to encounter unkindness…but I try to hold on to this prayer when people are testing my patience: “Lord, soften their heart but should they choose not to, help me soften mine instead. Help me be gentle. Help me turn my other cheek when I want to forcibly turn THEIR cheek.” Very honest but I like to think God finds me funny. 😬 But I think turning the other cheek doesn’t mean allowing yourself to be stepped on. Maybe it means no longer seeking revenge or being petty, and just letting it go when all you want to do is get down to their level!!! I guess that’s what it means to be a Jesus follower. To love even when the other person isn’t loving. To be kind even when the situation isn’t. And then eventually to ask God “What are you teaching me here?” So that we let go of the situation a bit more wiser and closer to Christ too. Here’s to more kindness and turning the other cheek in 2026!
