I think one of the reasons why it’s mostly men who are making so much noise and reacting strongly to this issue is because hindi sila sanay na babae naman ang nag-e-exert ng power or gumagamit ng lalaki for their own gain. Society has long painted women as the usual victims in relationships, so this really flips the script. The tables have returned kumbaga. Hahaha. Pero on a serious note, I’ve always stood for women empowerment, but empowerment should never be used as a shield for wrongdoing. What the girl did is unquestionably wrong and should never be tolerated. She deserves to face criticism and take responsibility for her actions. Siguro, this issue only reminds us that infidelity doesn’t discriminate. It isn’t tied to sex or gender. When someone chooses to cheat or decides to be unfaithful, they’ll do it regardless. All we can really do is be careful with who we trust, choose wisely whom we give our hearts to, and protect ourselves where we can.
