@rah more from that month

A tricky question for my Noise friends. Asking this as no family I know is on here (compared to other social media) and one of the answers might be I am a selfish ass - so hit me between the eyes if that is the case: So here is the case I have been with MamaRah for 14 years and got married 7 years ago and in April along came BabyRah. You almost certainly know that I no longer live in England and my family are "foreign" - well strictly speaking I am the foreigner in their country. Now MamaRah's English is almost perfect because she learnt and school, spent 8 years studying English and works in a UK company where English is the lingua franca. Polish is a notoriously difficult language to learn and I would describe my ability as adequate so long as the topics remain general - when they get too specific and require certain vocab I can at times be at a loss, but in fairness MamaRah has the same problem (although much less often). Now I dont have time to study Polish full time and rely a lot on exposure to the language which has dimminished due to Covid. I am having less casual encounters in shops etc than previously. Sometimes my language skills with my in laws are somewhat lacking, but for example I had a good (albeit general) conversation with my mother in law for about half an hour in Polish They are however constantly bemoaning my Polish skills and constantly nagging me to "Learn Polish" (and yes they say it that directly) Of course I am in Poland and I should speak Polish and ideally better But what really annoys me is that never once in 14 years have MamaRah's parents uttered a single word of English to me. Not even a "hello" / "good morning" / "how are you?" The reasoning - they are too old to learn. Well MamaRah is ten years younger than me and I am now only five years younger than her parents when I first met them. Just seems a bit imbalanced to me or am I a selfish ass?
