Just uploaded an article to P0x about whether Lego reinforces outdated gender roles. It's an old article i wrote a few years ago, but still highly relevant I can't wait until I can play with Lego again without having to work hard on explaining to my wife why :)

Whell... you have a point> LEGO adventures 2.0 for you. That's awesome!
I'm puzzled, why is Lego perceived as reinforcing gender roles? Sry I should have missed a train?
Just the way it goes. If you look at my original version as designed as an English lesson you will see what I mean. Look through the slides and think boy / girl / both. Of course i am of the view that in may affect childhood understandings of roles but as children mature and learn they move away from this unless it is reinforced elsewhere in their domestic or social environs Original version - http://learn.omegasupportservices.com/resources/genengindx/lego-and-gender/
Did some last week
now you made me jealous!
You should see the epic lego villas my wife and daughter build. They use my lego I managed to retain from my childhood. I just want to buy more but my portfolio says no.
Sounds cool. i absolutely love leg and I had an little boy last week - can't wait until he is old enough so he (uhm I) can play with it :) Daddy will show him how to build and play and might even let him touch it!
Just don’t do a The Lego Movie on the poor little guy. Hahaha. How is your little one doing? How has the first week of parenting been? Our daughter is almost 4. Time does weird things once there is a kid around.
