One of the most amazing trees I saw in India was the banyan tree. Its branches descend to the ground, grow into it and become roots. In this way, it grows wide, up and over. There is a large banyan tree in India that is 200-250 years old. It is considered a sacred tree, and temples are often built near it. I have been told that the police do not arrest a person if they are near a banyan tree. It is an amazing tree!
