On the first day of the new year, I went out to the kitchen and saw that the windows were frozen, covered with a crust of ice. The temperature outside the window was -19, but it felt like -25. I don't want to go out for a walk just yet. I think I'll make some tea and rest today. What will you do today? How are you celebrating the new year?

Sunrise on my street this morning. Went to work today and saw the wondrous sun shine. Couldn't resist taking a picture. I was having a good day. How about you? Are you resting or working on the first days of the New Year?

Today my job was to show a flat in a 27-storey building, on the 15th floor. I went out on the balcony and took pictures. I saw the city looming and swallowing up the small houses (in 3 photos). One day all the small houses will be demolished and huge houses will grow in their place... And I want to escape from the big city more and more, where there is more space and nature. What floor do you live on? Russia, Novosibirsk. 4.01.2022

The only tree that still bears fruit in Siberian winter frosts is the red mountain ash. Except that it tastes sour, you can pour vodka over it and make a medicinal tincture. Did you know that? Or don't you grow rowanberries? There's also the black rowan, which is sweet but only grows in summer. Good evening to you all, and be happy!

@optimist

I was taking pictures of houses for my advertisement and happened to see a plane flying over the city. I had flown to India on a plane like that... And today is Christmas Eve, tomorrow Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas. Today we don't say hello yet, but we observe a strict fast. Tomorrow we'll have something delicious. Have a good evening, everyone!

@optimist

Today, Orthodox Christians in Russia celebrate Christmas. There were festive services in churches last night and this morning. The end of Christmas Lent and festive celebrations. Best wishes to all! Now we are waiting for the new year, which according to the Eastern calendar will come in six days. What a jolly country we have - celebrating two new years!

If you don't have time to put your car away in the garage, it gets covered in snow and graffiti is painted on it. That's it, wait until spring when the car thaws, ha-ha-ha! It's going to be a long winter, we'll have to look at this car later. Photo taken in the street where I live :)

Dinosaurs appeared on the beach in Goa. But thousands of years later, they have shrunk in size so much that they no longer scare anyone. Have you ever met a dinosaur? Photo - India, Goa, Arabian Sea coast.

Today I would like to say THANK YOU to all my subscribers! 11 January is International "THANK YOU" Day, a holiday which, although it has no exact history of origin, is popular in many countries around the world. It is celebrated every year on the 11th of January. It is not known exactly who first suggested the idea of the International Thanksgiving Day, but according to some reports, it was first celebrated in 1994. The word 'thank you' is the simplest expression of…

Meeting the dawn in Goa. Early morning, I am extremely serious, I don't even understand why I am not smiling, if it was a time of unconditional happiness? Perhaps we forget that the most important thing in life is the present moment you are in, not worrying about the past or thinking about the future. Live in the present, friends, and you will be happy! Pictured is the author of this article, India, Goa, 2012.

Whether you've been paying attention or not, animals, like humans, can have a look of wisdom and a look of stupidity. But sometimes you look at a dog or a cat and it seems that its gaze reflects all the wisdom of life, that it understands something but cannot say. Have you ever felt that way? Photo of a dog on a beach in Goa, taken in 2012.

C наступившим! Теперь уж точно! Если кто не знает, на Балканах старый новый год называют русским! A comment for my English-speaking friends: in Russia today they celebrate "Old New Year", according to the Orthodox calendar, as Christmas on January 7, so New Year is on January 14. Therefore, the whole of Russia rests from January 1 to 14 - celebrating first Catholic New Year, then Orthodox Christmas and Orthodox New Year. So once again Happy New Year to you, friends!

When the cold of a Siberian winter wants to penetrate my heart, I have a reliable wall of love and warmth from a sunny place called Goa, even the memories of this magical Indian state keep me warm even in the bitterest cold. Do you have a favourite place? Maybe a place where you were as a child or something related to a loved one? Photo - India, Goa, Ashwem beach

Today a Russian music website wrote about my band. I used to play Siberian punk rock with musicians. From 1993 to 2003. Then I gave it up and started travelling around the world. In 2010, I met up with some friends and played two more gigs. The photo shows us before the concert in the city of Zarinsk. It seems like it's been a hundred years, but in fact it's only 12... If you translate the name into English, our band was called OUTSIDERS...

People sometimes ask me what kind of entertainment is there in winter in Siberia? The answer is that you can go on a bicycle trip to Lake Baikal. For example, like my acquaintances in the photos. Siberian travellers have fun like this.

One of the most amazing trees I saw in India was the banyan tree. Its branches descend to the ground, grow into it and become roots. In this way, it grows wide, up and over. There is a large banyan tree in India that is 200-250 years old. It is considered a sacred tree, and temples are often built near it. I have been told that the police do not arrest a person if they are near a banyan tree. It is an amazing tree!

Today the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. On this day, water is consecrated and public festivities, or to be more precise, bathing, are organised. But if everyone in warm countries can bathe, here the bravest can. Today people go for a swim, despite the Siberian frosts. Did you know about this Russian tradition?

I worked hard again today, if you can call it work - I drove around, showing people flats to sell and people to buy. Visited the new house, took pictures of the view from above. It seems like there is nothing difficult about it, but you still get tired during the day, so you don't have the energy to create anymore. Excuse me, I'm going to rest. Be happy! Don't overwork yourself and if you need to rest, rest!!!

Ever since I was a child, I have dreamed about space. I thought that when I grew up, there would be communism all over the planet, and that flying into space would be available to everyone. But alas, those who run this world are not interested in the general welfare and development of all mankind. Therefore the money is not used for the development of mankind, but for its total control. Including controlling the population of the planet through vaccination. Now I only fly in…

Once in Cambodia, I visited a shooting range with real combat weapons. There I shot an American M-16 rifle. I paid 20 dollars for the shooting. But I'm actually in favour of people never shooting anywhere at all. Not even at a shooting range. Have you ever fired any weapons? Pictured: Cambodia, Phnom Penh, 2013.

Surprisingly, I met camels in India. Once these animals were part of merchant caravans carrying luggage on their backs, they could walk long distances without water and ate scarce grass. Now children enjoy riding them and taking pictures... Are there camels in your country? Photo: India, Gokarna, 2012

Ten years ago I visited India for the first time. I saw the ruins of the ancient city where the first Russian traveller Athanasius Nikitin once lived, and reached it on foot. The ancient ruins hold so many secrets. I'd like to go back in time, if only for a moment. Would you like to go back in time to your own or another country's past? India, Hampi, 2011

In 2013, when I was travelling in Vietnam, I took a concept photo - in my room you could plug in a flash drive to the TV and watch films and photos. This picture shows me and my daughter Svetlana visiting my parents when I had just returned from a trip to Central Africa in 2012, where I travelled to five countries - Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. Africa is just some kind of separate cosmos, but I like Asia better. I wish everyone to start travelling as early as…

This is how I see the sunrise when I leave my house. In front of my house is an intersection where cars and trams have been running since early morning. And I go to work, to close the deal for the sale of the flat, from which I will receive my percentage for services rendered. Being a realtor feels like the best job I've ever had, especially since I haven't worked at all for 20 years, freelancing and making money on the internet. What do you do for a living? Where do you…

Sharing the sunrise with you again. This time in the centre of the city where I live - Novosibirsk. It's only -14 warm here today (you can even eat ice cream at this temperature!).This week I managed to close a deal to sell a flat for my client, and I'm happy with what I've made out of it. So this weekend I decided to relax, watch the TV series "The Blacklist" and share with you the joyous affirmation that life is beautiful and wonderful. How do you spend your weekends? Do…

Do you like football? What kind of sport do you like? I once went to a football match in Goa with friends. The local DEMPO team was playing and we were cheering them on. It was interesting because I've only gone to football matches in Siberia. In our country they are noisier, the fans shout, blow up firecrackers, burn torches, but here only our football fan friend Andron was noisy, after which he was recognized in Goa wherever he appeared.
