Congratulations to all our friends in the Philippines on Independence Day! Independence from colonial rule is a good thing, especially when the national currency is not tied to the US dollar. And while most countries in the world are considered independent as long as the dollar rules, it is hard to accept that we are independent of the US. The USSR was independent from the dollar until 1991 and then on 12.06.1991 we became 'independent', the dollar ruled our economy. So are we really independent? In any case, happy holiday to you, friends!

I dont think we are enjoying freedom.. with almost php13T foreign debt and it could ballooned to more with the corrupt incoming administration... Humm i guess we are independent from those colonials.. spaniards, japanese, americans but not with our own politicians ... Phils and Filipinos still have that hope for true independence...
I agree, it is only in the future that we will either have true independence for all nations or complete globalisation and total control.
