Fibroadenoma: Causeless but most common type of benign lump in female's breast The title might be wondrous but it is a good catch for us to be knowledgeable about this condition. Human body is made up of billions of smaller structures of four major kinds: cells, tissues, organs, and systems. Cells are the building blocks of every organism to live. Tissues are the assemblage of cells that make up a certain organ. For instance, a group cells are able to bind each other in order to form a kidney, lung, heart, etc. When the organs are finally formed, it starts a system that delivers the functions throughout the body. In this article, we will focus on the certain tissues located in female’s body—the breast. With all my heart, I encourage all the women out there to be more conscious and cautious in maintaining the proper health services and care that our body really needs. Ready your eyes because it is quite a long story. In my 24 years of life, I have never ever quite imagined that I would undergone a surgery. In my mind, it will be the time of when I finally starting a family and ready for pregnancy, this is the idea I am thinking always that about a surgery (either caesarian session or normal delivery). To confirm this, I am. I undergone a surgery because of this condition called Fibroadenoma. I gather enough strength to narrate this so here’s my story about this unexpected yet relief moment of my life. It was a blissful morning of April 2017 where my block mates were preparing bunch of documents and paper works because we were about to finalize the requirements for graduation. We planned to meet up at exactly 8 in the morning in order to accomplish the errands before 3pm. For me to be on time, I woke up 6am because I prepared myself for 30-40 minutes and the travel between our town and school is ranging from 20-30minutes, depending on the traffic. After the meal, I took a bath properly. As I cleaned my body with soap, I felt a certain solid and moveable mass on the lower left part of my right breast and it made me wonder what was that thing inside my body. While the travel was a bit traffic, I searched the reasons or causes of solid masses in female’s breast on Google. A lot of information had burst and I cannot find the answer, besides it made my mind confused because I read various conditions that led me to ‘what ifs’. The days went well and I became extra busy for graduation and finding a job simultaneously. In short, I became more focused to those things hence I forgot to prioritize my health condition. May 2020, I was luckily got hired in a certain private school in San Isidro. During that time, my family was my top priority. I have to find a job that will help my father to sustain the needs of the family. My sister next to me was a 4th year college student, the next was a Senior High School student and the youngest was an Elementary student. Before I graduated, plenty of debts were left and needed to pay before due date. It was completely challenging because my sisters and I were both studying and the cost was tough and head-breaking. That’s it, knowing my condition, I chose to neglect myself just to provide what my family needs. This condition lasted for almost 2 years and half, before I finally convinced myself to conduct a check-up. It was a cold night when I touched that solid mass again and I noticed its size was growing, and I cried deeply as much as I could. Sadness, fear and loneliness ate my whole function that night. I started questioned myself: Is there any thing I have done wrong? Am I bad person? Is it not enough to sacrifice myself for everyone? Do I deserve this kind of pain? Because it really sucks! Aside from medical check-ups in schools, July 2020 was the very first time I was being checked by an OB-Gyne. I decided to have this check-up because I deserve to know what’s going on inside my body. I told everything I know to the doctor and she touched the solid mass in my right breast. Doc: “Higa ka, itaas ang dalawang kamay at huminga ng malalim. Sisimulan ko na kapain ha.” Me: “Sige po Doc.” I was totally devastated when the doctor stopped and said, “Bukol nga ito, kailangan kita irefer kay Dr. C para mas malaman natin kung ano yan”. I answered, “Doc, delikado po ba yung bukol?”. “Mukang hindi naman, pero kailangan natin mas malaman kung ano yan, gaano kalaki, and honestly saying mas mainam kung ipapabiopsy mo yan. Kaya irerefer kita kay Dr. C kasi isa siyang surgeon. Wag ka mag-alala, magaling yun.” (Biopsy is an examination of tissue removed from a living body to discover the presence, cause, or extent of a disease or certain condition) After two days, Dr. C examined my condition. He did the physical examination like the first Doctor did. This time, it became more serious and immediate action is needed. I'll just go over what we talked about. The best way is to have a biopsy or kukuha lang ng tayo ng tissue sa bukol para iexamine. You have two terms. Since this is a minor surgery, pwedeng gagamit tayo ng general anesthesiology na papatulugin ka or ang lalagyan lang ng anesthesia ay yung part ng breast na bubuksan pero gising ka at naririnig mo yung ginagawa namin. I think, sa itsura mo ngayon na kinakabahan at namumutla, magpageneral anesthesia ka para pag gising mo, wala na, okay na. Out-patient ka naman kaya after ng surgery, you can go home. After your next menstrual cycle, pwede ka na magpa-opera. Since tapos na mens mo ng July, pagkatapos ng mens mo ng August, text ka lang sakin, ischedule na natin yan. Me: “Okay po Doc” (Halos hindi ako makatayo, nanginginig at hindi mag-sink in sakin yung mga narinig ko during that time. Kahit minor surgery, still it’s surgery at alam kong may mali na nangyayari sa katawan ko). Before I about to step out the door, Dr. C gave me a smile and courage to face this operation because I told him that at my age, this was the very first check-up I had and the outcome was turned out like this. I got home safely with fear and anxiety, how can I tell my condition to my mom? That I need to undergo a surgery? Where we can find enough money if the cost is expensive? I was just holding my face with my bare two hands, crying and in pain. (Wala pa naman yung surgery pero nasasaktan nako). I talked to my mother and she was very surprised because even years had passed, I did not told her about this (only the day I knew that I should undergo surgery). As the days went by, she hardly convinced me to have a second opinion to his OB. So, I let her and we went to the clinic for another check-up. The check-up day came and the physical examination was the same like the two doctors did. Her OB-Gyne is a pioneered General Surgeon in UST so she really knew well how human body works, besides she served as a doctor for several decades and almost of the doctors here in Cabiao were her student. Just like what Dr. C told, she also advised me to have ultrasound and undergo a surgery to remove this solid mass in my breast. I had an ultrasound and the result was just the same as what they said. My menstruation was in the 5th day so I immediately texted Dr. C to schedule my operation and he scheduled it in 2 days (I chose general anesthesia para paggising ko, sakit mula sa pagkakaopera nalang ang mararamdaman ko). I almost prayed every minute of the day that the operation would be successful and never to be repeated. So, I came in the hospital at exactly 9am, changed clothes and sit in the wheel chair to go in operating room. As the man pushed the chair, I caught a glance to my mother to have enough courage to face it. That time, I want go back, burst in tears and hug her so tight so I can able to surpass this. I entered in operating room, laid me down on the bed and they started to talk to me in order to alleviate my nervousness and attention. Dr. C was finally arrived with eagerness to help me in this burden and started the process. The general anesthesiologist injected the desired amount of anesthesia into my serum and my world turned dim at peace. My consciousness turned back at 12:30 in the afternoon. Oh, yes! The duration of the sleep was too long to the point that my mother was terribly worried to what was already happening to me (because she was waiting outside the operating room from 9:40am). When I opened my dizzy eyes, everything was moving because I was still under in anesthesia and its effects were not disappeared yet. The nurse noticed my movements so she gave me antibiotics and water (honestly, I was too thirst that time). After this, I finally saw my mother and hold her hand gracefully. (I survived Ma, I survived!!) Me: “Ma, sobrang hilo ko hindi ako makatayo. Umiikot yung paningin ko.” Her: “Eh may anesthesia ka pa kasi, ipahinga mo muna sarili mo bago tayo umuwi.” Me: “Ano balita? Nakita mo yung bukol? Napictureran mo ba? Ano sabi ni Doc?” Her: “Oo, Nakita ko yung bukol. Minsan nalang hehe.” We got home safely and very careful to every movement I made. I chose to keep it in secret and did not tell to any relatives primarily because I wanted silence and rest at all. I do not want any issues and chikas either. For almost 2 weeks of medication, I felt good day by day. The hospital texted me that the result of my biopsy was arrived. With fear and anxiousness, I went to the hospital and got the result. I opened the envelope and found out that the solid mass was FIBROADENOMA (approximately 3cm). What is Fibroadenoma? Fibroadenomas are common benign (non-cancerous) breast tumors made up of both glandular tissue and stromal (connective) tissue. Fibroadenomas are most common in women in their 20s and 30s, but they can be found in women of any age. They tend to shrink after a woman goes through menopause. Can fibroadenoma turn into cancer? Most fibroadenomas don't affect your risk of breast cancer. However, your breast cancer risk might increase slightly if you have a complex fibroadenoma. (Mine is simple fibroadenoma consisting only one). Are fibroadenomas dangerous? Fibroadenomas do not usually cause any complications. It is possible that a person may develop breast cancer out of a fibroadenoma, but this is highly unlikely. According to research, only around 0.002 to 0.125 percent of fibroadenomas become cancerous. What cause Fibroadenoma? The cause of fibroadenoma is still unknown, but they might be related to reproductive hormones. Fibroadenomas occur more often during your reproductive years, can become bigger during pregnancy or with use of hormone therapy, and might shrink after menopause, when hormone levels decrease. So, fibroadenoma is a benign or non-cancerous mass in female’s breast. Even its main cause is still unknown and needs further studies, hormones may play a big role in this condition. Dr. C said that unbalanced hormones and diet were the main keys why I had this kind of condition. Moreover, abnormalities in the growth of cells, too much estrogen levels, and physical stress and trauma are some factors that may contribute in growing fibroadenoma. The term fibroadenoma combines the words “fibroma,” meaning a solid mass made up of fibrous tissue (fibrous connective tissue is composed of parallel bundles of collagen fibers and the breasts of the female are mostly made up of connective tissue or taba/laman), and “adenoma,” a mass of glandular tissue (glandular tissue is the part of the breast that makes milk). In short, namuong taba o laman. Even this condition left scar on my skin, every time I see how long the pain I endured, it marks how strong I am to face this another fight in my life. I have learned in myself that if I can fight in my own, I can win without being burden to anyone. It was really a hard experience that I had this condition and might repeat again, maybe it’s not depending on what and how my body works. So, to keep it safe, I engage myself more in eating fruits and veggies, healthy lifestyle and good environment. It takes a lot of courage to me to be able to share this because I might afraid to be judged. Nevertheless, I chose to construct this article in order to awaken especially women that you must take enough care and love your health as much as you could. You are the only one who responsible in checking and maintaining your body to become healthy and fit. As I closed this chapter, I am deeply hoping that this condition will never ever happen again. Conducting follow up check-ups is also a big help to monitor breast and any conditions in our body. Health is Wealth! If your cells want to be happy, make them happier! PS. (Secret lang natin 'to Te phen haha)

Lovers found their separate ways The word love appears in many contexts: there is family love, maternal love, love within friendship, a wider love for fellow humans, religious love for God, love for our parents, love for yourself, romantic love, to name but a few. Some cultures have numerous words and different forms of love but whatever it is we should always find myriad aspects of love to celebrate. How does a human feel love? Scientifically, love is a drive. A feeling of strong or constant affection for a person or something. It is primarily formed in the brain with much influence of hormones and other biochemicals in human body. When the brain starts to make signals and other biological processes, this feeling of great affection gives powerful links between pleasure and the object of our affection. The brain releases hormones that make the lub-dub sound fast and oftentimes can’t control the nervousness in the heart. There are thousands of studies and researches that explains how love functions in human body, but all of those have similarities and fall in one concept: Love is a set of emotions and behaviors characterized by intimacy, passion, and commitment. When love dominates the body, it affects the way how human behave, think, act, and respond to a person or something which he/she truly admires most. In the context of human perspective, love is a matter of feeling that flutters her heart and lifting her soul into a romantic excitement, exploration and positive emotions. That’s why they say,”Kapag tumibok ang puso, wala ka nang magagawa kundi sundin ito.” And it makes sense either. In relation with the title of this article, there are lovers who chose to take their paths separately. The supposed to be happy ending came to an unexpected finale---cutting the ties, depart and let each other go. Kate, a 24-year-old medical technologist who really good at cooking and a home all around daughter to his family. She really loves baking, discovering new dishes, fur-momma to her 3 cats and 4 dogs, and a constant diary to my unending stories in life. Kate and I were best of friends since 2012 and she already know almost my life and vice versa. We have been this kind of friendship for almost a decade and up to now especially nowadays that some of our close friends are afar and busy in their works in Manila and Sorsogon that is why we are the only ones left here and became closer day by day. We treat each other as sisters and serve as human listener to every rant, problems, and everything that make us suffocated. Kate is a good friend, well-educated and mannered, kind-hearted, talented, helpful, and has broad understanding. Through of this, there are people who want to take advantage to her because of her goof heart. On the other hand, Joseph is a 25-year-old man who works as an agricultural engineer in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. He is also thriving here in Cabiao and his family runs business in public market. As far as I know, he went in Cabiao during weekends and day-offs. Joseph is a close friend of Kate’s brother and they met each other in one occasion. Due to acquaintances, we also we get to be with him on occasions and somehow, we know him well. To sum things up, Kate and Joseph are good friends before they became lovers. On the 20th of April 2017, Kate’s brother, Egie, was celebrating his birthday. Together with his friends including Joseph, they swam first in nearest resort here in Cabiao before going home to celebrate his birthday. Since the house was ready and Kate is really good in cooking, she called me to help her for preparation. As the boys were enjoying the swimming, Kate and I prepared their meal and other necessities (how supportive friend am I? kidding aside). They went home safely and started to eat delicious foods and sweeties. Afterwards, Kate also invited our friends that time and they went around 7 in the evening. During that time, the celebration was grown vigorously and everyone was happy for Egie because he was finally got his new motorcycle. As the celebration goes well, Kate caught the attention of Joseph wherein everyone could obviously saw his stealthy looks, wide smile, and he always made conversations only with Kate. Me and our friends already know that Joseph had started romantic feeling with our dear Katey (her group nickname). Even though he rejected many times, Joseph did not give up and make a lot of moves, gives various gifts, and exerted enough effort in order to get a chance from Katey. After a couple of months of courting, Kate was finally let Joseph to go on a date. To make it short, they became lovers. Yeah, she gave her ‘YES’ because she saw the perseverance, determination, and how sincere his love for her. They became in a relationship for 3 years and 10 months and turning 4 years in August. Based on what I have seen, Kate is really happy. I never see her before how happy she is until Joseph came into her life that gives color, enjoyment, and happiness to her meaningful life. Their relationship is just like the normal relationships do—eating together, playing games, always present in family gatherings, building dreams together, traveling in different places, helping whoever needs help, became lean on each other side, misunderstandings, and some usual scenarios that a normal relationship do. They are both happy to each other as they see their future life as a lifetime partners. Until their relationship was challenged…. In any forms of relationship, it should be always a give and take process. If you always give, you must be given as well. If you say that something requires give-and-take, you mean that people must compromise or cooperate for it to be successful. They say, as the season change, people are also change. Change is the only constant thing in this world, it might antiquate but it always brings a concrete idea that no matter how good you are, people will change for the benefit for them. In the latter months of their relationship, Kate approached me. We see each other and she he narrated the changes and what happened in their relationship. According to her, she always understands Joseph, whatever the situation, she always understands him. She always supports and let Joseph to do things that he really wanted because she knows that Joseph will be happy if he always does what he wanted. Joseph who became complacent and unconcerned on what Kate’s feeling and going through because he knows that Kate will never get tired of supporting him, sacrifice her time and energy to help him, understand him, and love him even she forgot how to be loved by him. Yes, Kate forgot herself in order to provide what Joseph needs and wants. On this serious context, they talked to each other and willing to compromise again and again. So, they relationship went just like the normal months and years. Until one night, she noticed that Joseph seemed to be going back to the previous scenario of losing time again. She decided to take a look to his social media account and she was surprisingly shocked on what she have seen—he had conversation with another woman and that conversation tears her sanity into pieces. When he approached Joseph, all the things he could do was to say multiple sorry (how many times he said sorry but the mistakes ended up repeatedly) although cheating is always wrong and it is a choice in the first place but he chose to do it. Apart from his other mistakes and shortcomings, he has done something like this. Kate has been totally devastated mentally and emotionally. She felt betrayed once again and can’t able to build her trust again anymore, it may take a lot of time before she could rebuild it again. As her friend, I sympathized and console her even her eyes manifest sorrow and grievance. For the second time around, Kate gave her trust and full love but wind-up to betrayal and self-worthlessness. Joseph was still asking for chances but Kate was drained, unhappy and got really tired of loving him so they broke and chose the paths separately. Until today, Kate was not starting yet about things that happened to them. She feels sick and tired every day, sudden tears that she can’t hold back with, the dreamed happy ending that became a memory today. ----- Hmm, how’s sad it is? Sometimes, the person we trusted the most is the one who break it unexpectedly. The person we once prayed for, is the one who betrays us. It is better to be left broken than putting back together and hurt yourself again gradually. But not all the time, it happens based on what to be happened. To give love and to be loved are one of the most delightful feeling ever. “Sabi nga nila ang sarap magmahal, pero minsan ito rin yung rason kung bakit tayo nasasaktan.” Love is not wrong and it will never be, but lovers do. If you get hurt because of love, it is also definitely the reason of healing but it really takes time, acceptance and patience. There is no perfect relationship and partners because all of us are imperfect, but we have choices, we can think nor decide on the things that is right versus wrong. Love is beyond everything; we literally sacrifice our worth just to give the love they deserve even though we forgot ourselves to be loved and lived for. Hence, loving yourself must never be forgotten before loving someone. Loving yourself will never be wrong at any time, at any cost. “Natapos na ang lahat at may mga bagay na ayaw ko nang maalala “ Yung simula, yung gitna at lalong-lalo na yung dulo “Gusto kong kalimutan, kung papano mo ako kinalimutan. “Ikaw ba ang napagod? O ako? O baka naman tayo? “Wala naman sanang magbabago kung hindi mo piniling magbago” “Pasensya na, baka hanggang dito nalang talaga tayo”. Senti Mode: ON NP: Kung Wala Ka by Hale 🎶

How did I ended up to be a teacher? “Teaching is the only profession that creates other profession”, this quotation may be heard over and over again but it is true right? There would be no other professions without teaching in any way. To be a teacher is far from what I dreamed for (I want to be a Doctor but can't afford hehe). Before, I couldn’t imagined that I will be one in this field of teaching. When I was in primary education, there were thousands of reasons on what I want to be in the future. It is quite understandable because in this stage of education, children are starting to imagine and nurture themselves on the things that they wanted to do. There was certain activity given by our teacher that questioned us, “When the time comes, what dream do you want to be? What work are you capable of? As far as I remember, I answered, “I want to be a nurse. My teacher asked: “Why would you want to be a nurse? “Gusto ko pong maging nurse para makatulong sa mga taong maysakit at maalagaan ang aking pamilya” that was my answer, a very usual answer coming from an elementary student. But they do say that, as time goes on, people's preferences change. After my wonderful elementary years, I entered secondary years. These were the years of enjoyment, sorrow, happiness and time of great things as I welcomed my teenage years. This was the stage of discovery and exploration of new things to make our high school life more memorable. Moreover, during this time is also the expanding of our world because we had met different people with different experiences. It is the time where peer groups and circle of friends are created and valued; I agree with that because I am one of those. In this season, I really enjoyed every moment of my high school life. I tried cutting classes, wandering around class time, borrowing notes, had 0-score in exams, role playing, laugh as much as we could, playing with classmates and friends, mutual understandings, even learning to drink liquor was one of the highlight moments during high school. However, beyond enjoyment, I make myself sure to study well to pass. Did you know my favorite quotation during my high school days? That is “Study well, not study hard”. Don’t make me wrong because we have different perspectives in studying. To give my reason, I am just an average student that time. My routine was studying and learning while enjoying my life as high school student. I wanted to enjoy this stage to gain memories, friendship, camaraderie and new things that will surely give happiness within my soul. So, I must say, I really enjoyed my high school life and treasure those moments to be cherished. When I was in 4th year, everyone was preparing into the next chapter of our lives—the college journey. That time, I have no any idea what course should I take. I was just in a blank space where I could not find what I really want to be, a nobody for the near future. After graduation, everybody was so busy in preparing themselves in college admission test. My classmates and friends had their school and courses to study with. It became lesser communication and belonginess because they were focus on entering this journey. What about me? I was still searching the school and the course that would suit me. During those times, I was self-loathing. I felt a bit of pressure because I was still here, hanging and thinking of everything while others are about to begin. Until the moment I asked my parents, my mother specifically. I did not remember the full details but idea of the conversation went like this: Me: “Ma, malapit na pasukan. Yung mga classmates ko meron na silang course at school. Ako kaya, papano?” Her: “Ano ba gusto mong course? Saan mo ba gustong mag-aral? Me: “Hindi ko po alam parehas” (teary-eyed) As the days passed by, one friend of mine contacted me. We talked about the happenings and plans in entering college. She suggested that why I don’t try schools in Manila and pick a course certainly. Due to chaotic thinking, I risked myself to go in Manila. I tried Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa Manila, University of Manila, Unibersidad de Manila and Pamantasan Lungsod ng Manila. I even tried to inquire in University of the East, Manila, if they offered scholarship because I cannot afford the school services (they offered scholarship but I have no assurance on the cost of studying in Manila). Enrolment and inquiring mostly in the schools were closed and already full. Several weeks of searching, I felt tired and hopeless that I could ably study because it was the last week of May before the opening of the class in June. While stunned by the absence, I cried and cried and cried and cried. I was starting doubting myself, why can’t I have choices? Why can’t I have course to study? Why can’t I have the interest? Why I feel so empty? The tears were continued to fall until I fell asleep (that time, I was stayed in the house of my aunt in Sta. Mesa). The morning came well, I called my mama and papa wherein they were in Taguig for vacation. Me: “Ma, Pa, wala akong nakitang school at course dito sa Manila. June na nextweek, baka hindi ako makapagenrol at makapag-aral” (I was terribly anxious that time). Papa: “Nak, uwi ka nalang sa probinsya, doon ka nalang mag-aral. Diba si ate entang mo teacher? Don ka nalang din kaya mag-enrol sa eskwelahan niya?” Me: “Yes Pa, teacher siya. Alam ko sa San Isidro siya nag-aral pero hindi ko alam ang pangalan ng school niya” Mama: “Oo nga jure, mag-teacher ka kaya? Umuwi ka na ngayon at pumunta ka sa school na pinag-aralan ni entang. May naipon naman kami na pang-enrol mo na. Ibibigay ko na sayo pag-uwi mo. Kaysa hindi ka makapag-aral”. Papa: “Gumayak ka na, susunduin na kita jan sa Tita Bebe mo”. And that time, I seized the opportunity to continue my study. It was the time which I saw hope and aspiration, a big thanks to my parents. She had point that in order to continue my studies, I have choice which is Education as my course. I went back on the province and while the long drive was fascinating, I reflected on the things that challenged me. Maybe studying in Manila was no opportunities for me. It maybe gives options but no assurance that I could make to study there. It was so close in the end that’s why I chose my parent’s decision. I took BS in Education course in the same university where my cousins (ate entang and ate phen) studied. In the first year of my college journey, I took English major because I suddenly saw two of my high school classmates were English Major (for the sake that I will not be alone). However, as the months went on, I realized that majoring in English was not my cup of tea because of the lessons that I was not interested and captivated with. What major I really want to take? It is Science, General Science to be specific (since, to be a doctor is loving Science). I was just too scared to be alone that’s why I took English first as my major. After that, I transferred Science Major on the second semestral of the year. Surprisingly, I found out myself happy, interested and eager to excel in this major. The following years went so well and I have encountered amazing people that helped me throughout this journey. On the 4th year of journey, practice teaching is one of the ultimate requirements before running for graduation. Practice teaching is the process where student-teacher is deployed on specific school to practice and prepare herself in teaching. I was deployed on CABIAO NHS where I am currently teaching as a Grade 7 teacher. It had been almost 5 and half months of practice teaching moments before final demonstration. On this journey, one big realization has came into my senses----I have learned to love teaching. I saw in myself how happy I am when I see the smiles and enjoyment on the students whenever we have discussions. I saw in myself how happy I am whenever I see them leaving the class with periods over question marks. I see myself how truly happy I am when I see them learning because of what I have done to be teacher and parent to them. I have really found out the happiness and passion in teaching. With the help of my parents, I saw the vocation that leads me on my purpose. I just want to have a reflection: I just want to share this to everyone who is struggling in finding their purpose in this world especially today that COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet and far from to free us. Just like me, it was really tough and difficult before I could see what I really wanted. I realized, what life I have now if I don’t consider my parent's suggestion? Where I am now if I don’t have crossed the path between English and Science? What am I today if I pushed my life to study and pick a course randomly in Manila? Hmmm, I’m oust of the words maybe. In this context, I am not saying that we must follow the choices of parents for us when it comes on the course we should take. What I mean is, we should consider their guidance and support for us to have clearer mind and choice to make decision on what we really wanted. Of course, your choice is what really matters most in taking your course in college because that will lead you in your passion and interest someday. But it still depends on our choices along the journey and the will of God that governs everything. Sometimes, we are in the situation of chaotic scenarios where we cannot make decisions wisely. There are people and experiences that will help us to finally see our purpose in life. Hence, do not lose hope even we are experiencing hard times and challenges today. Keep moving forward and always motivate yourself to pursue your dreams and you can able to surpass the storms to enjoy the rainbow in the end. Whatever it is, as long as you see yourself happy and contented on what you have right now, that is what important most. I am always wishing that everyone may find the certain path to see what they really want to be. It is not always to have good academics, medals, compliments or tangible things; It is on the experiences, lessons, hardships and kindness that will help you to see how wonderful and amzing life could be.

Adventure in Mt. 387, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija One of the most healing processes that have been practiced mostly of the people is through mountain climbing. Mountain climbing has been on the bucket list of many people. It is an activity which is considered to be very exciting and adventurous. Moreover, it is something you will find to be very common all across the world. Way back 2017, I was a graduating college student. Before completion, conducting research is one of the hardest requirements of being a student. One major subject had ordered us to conduct research on variety of mushrooms in Nueva Ecija. My groupmates had decided to conduct spotting in Minalungao Cave, that is a popular tourist spot here in Nueva Ecija. As the spotting continued, I found out myself enjoying the spelunking and climbing rocks formation. It is just finding mushrooms that turned into a wonderful and adventurous experience. Since then, I enjoy and learn to love the essence of climbing mountains. 1 year ago, while cooking sumptuous foods and chatting with high school barkada, my friend and I planned to hike. All of them agreed and we planned the date in order to avoid conflicts on each schedule. We were randomly searching mountains within Nueva Ecija and its vicinity. On top of our choices were Mt. Arayat in Pampanga and Mt. 387 in Carranglan. Mt. Arayat is already known here in our town so we wanted to try a unique mountain that people might not be so familiar with. After extensive searching, our choice was finally arrived in Mt. 387. As the days and months went on, there were unexpected matters happened. Our schedule became altered and everyone seemed hanging on the planned date we had. This sort of circumstance is already common nowadays especially we are all working and far apart. However, we thought that this adventure should be checked on the bucket list. That time, June 12 was approaching. It was the date we agreed to go in Mt. 387 and some were saying “No” and “I can’t” Fast forward... My one friend and I were decided to continue this plan even we were just only two. We contacted travel and tours who will have the schedule on meeting Mt. 387. Luckily, we settled the hike on Triplang Travel and Tours as joiners. The day was arrived and they picked-up us at exactly 12 in the morning because the travel hours were approximately 2 to 3 hours from Cabiao to Carranglan. We bounded to Mt. 387 main house around 3:30 in the morning. The local government who is responsible in nurturing Mt. 387 conducted a 30-minute orientation and registration. After this, we started the trekking at exactly 4 in the morning. At this hour, the trekking was anew as I firstly experienced it with dark surroundings of the mountain. Trekked... Trekked... Trekked... As the trekking getting harder, a glimpse of sunrise was appeared surprisingly. The tiredness all over the body was turned away and seized the moment to move forward. The trekking went so well and everyone was motivated to reach the peak. While the walking continued, each of us shared untold stories that challenged our lives as an individual. Some of them shared their challenges encountered in work, in family, within oneself and how they cope up from their darkest times of their lives. I felt teary-eyed as I listened and mesmerized by their stories. Aside from it, I have gained valuable lessons and realizations that life is a cycle, there were good days where you feel the pleasures and wanted to be the happiest; there were bad days that you wanted to give up, lose hope, cry and a nobody to anyone. Nevertheless, you should always choose to look forward, be happy and fight against any challenges and problems that life may throw towards you. We reached the first point where we can breathe a cup of rest and enjoy the view. To make the most out of it, I climbed on the tree just to take pictures and able to glance how lovely the nature is. Another spot had been reached; this is the spot where you can stare the lovely hills of the mountain. It was like you were in a switz view enjoying the sceneries and green place on Earth. Is it steep? Scary? Deep? Of course, yes, it is. I am a bit afraid but I chose to seize the opportunity to overcome my fears and enjoy the moments. Here is the almost peak of the mountain. Since I refreshed myself from breathtaking views, I constantly enjoyed the sceneries. A short review: What is this mountain about? Mt. 387, also known as Mt. Batong-Amat, is located in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, part of the Caraballo Mountain range. The name came from the 387.9 hectares of land that it covers, which belongs to the Talavera Watershed Forest Reserve. It was a new experience from what we were used to climb. From the eastern mountains of Rizal, now we are conquering summits of the Central Mountains of Nueva Ecija. Its elevation is 2,375 ft / 724 m. Up to there, there is so-called, a loving tree and a cradle. The people of Mt. 387 said that if you leave a money on that tree, you will meet your soulmate or the one. But there are few who said, it’s a prank!! (because they are still missing and hoping their soulmates to come out haha) whatever. For me, loving yourself must a priority before loving someone. After this, we started trekking again to reach the Aloha Falls. It is the falls, where you can swim with clean and relaxing water that comes within the mountain. Before we get to the falls, trail must to be surpassed. I am smiling when I construct this experience in trailing because it is absolutely adventurous. I experienced slipped, wounded, and tie-breaking traversed. While everyone was aiming to surpass the trail, it was truly an enjoyable and delightful moments we had. Everyone was laughing as the trail went more difficult. We had almost a 15-minute walked before we reached the Aloha Falls which the water is so refreshing and relaxing. Everyone makes the most enjoying time as we swam on the falls. As you can see on the photos, we had met cuties on the falls. According to them, they were cousins and their parents/guardians sell banana que and fresh buko near the Aloha Falls. It is almost every day that these children swam on this place because as their parents are working, they are swimming. What drives me here? Hmm, The primary reason which I really pushed this Mt. 387 adventure, is to breathe and find peace of mind. I want to be refreshed from all forms of tiredness, mental issues and problems in life. Sometimes, the best way to pause for a moment, is to find a place where you can feel the silence, tranquility and peace. If yourself is asking for that, go, give it and you will never regret of choosing yourself over everything.

Blended Learning: Learning will never stop School closures due to COVID-19 has brought significant disruptions to education in the entire world. Many countries have decided to close schools, laboratories, colleges and universities temporarily. Philippines is one of the countries affected by this phenomenon that we never quite thought that it would happen. It is widely evident that COVID-19 pandemic leads to dreadful and unequal opportunities for living as well for learning. Emerging evidence from some regions and place across the country indicate that the pandemic is giving an increasing loss in learning and inequality. School is the home where everyone can widen their knowledge and improve skills. We learn basic knowledge at home with the teaching and guidance of our family but in school, we can develop ourselves more than the things that we could imagine do. Discovering new ideas, gaining abilities, exploring beyond the things that surround us, experimentation, elevating self-confidence, raising social works and enjoying life while learning are some factors that school can nurture to us. We cannot deny the fact that school is our second home. Sometimes, there a few people who consider school as their primary home as they felt the happiness, enjoyment and longing for belongingness through their classmates and teachers. Nevertheless, although the pandemic is not over yet and students must stay inside their homes, educational institutions developed new improved ways on how learning can be still handled. The Philippine’s education system is greatly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. To continue learning, school opening is not necessarily mean traditional face-to-face learning in the classroom. It is not the accustomed ways of teaching-learning process where the students enter the classroom and the teacher starts discussing the lesson directly and physically. The opening of the class will depend on the risk and situation of the certain community and based on the classification and guidelines from Department of Health and the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF). Due to current situation, there are many learning modalities that DepEd offers. Identifying the right modalities was done through extensive survey to parents/guardians and even in the students. They adopted teaching-learning delivery modalities that may applicable for the students and teachers and these are Online Learning, Modular Distance Learning, Blended Learning, Radio-based Instruction and TV-based Instruction. Let us have a brief discussion about these modalities. Online Learning, from the name itself, is the learning delivery modality that uses mainly electronic gadgets or devices and internet connection. It takes place over the Internet and often referred to as “e-learning”. It is the modality where the students and teachers connect themselves through the use of mobile phones with downloaded applications, of course internet connection plays the huge role in this modality. Mobile phones, computers and laptops are the major equipment used by many. When it comes on applications, Messenger, Google Meeting, Zoom, Facebook using groups and Google Classroom are several apps that have been used since pandemic started. Students and teachers have their class through video conference, chatting and the like. Modular Distance Learning features individualized instruction that allows students to use modules. Generally, modules are either self-learning modules or printed modules that permits the learners to acquire knowledge and learning skills at home. They must develop a sense of strong responsibility in accomplishing the tasks provided in the module. Of course, the support and the guidance of parents/guardians and other members of the family are completely significant in this kind of learning modality. Blended Learning, from the standpoint of DepEd, it is the hybrid learning or the combination of online distant learning and delivery of printed modules through barangay officials. Here in the Philippines, it is like a fusion of online learning and modular distance learning. The discussion is through online platforms (e.g., video conference, google meeting, live discussions, etc.) and the learners are answering their modules at home. Radio-based Instruction is a program with alternative mode using radio broadcast to deliver learning and enable the learners to acquire knowledge and skills in basic education through broadcast communication. TV-based Instruction, the students can learn from their own TVs mainly through watching. With DepEd TV, learners can watch educational lessons and informative discussions that will help them to integrate ideas into the real world. In addition, they can also site instructional and scholastic materials in DepEd Commons that serve as the network in promoting quality learning resources in a sustainable manner. Even though this pandemic hindrance us in studying at schools and universities, the power of learning will never be ceased. However, dealing with the various learning delivery modalities can largely impact the real-life situations of the people especially the stakeholders. How prepared the parents are? How ready the students to learn with this sort of learning? How are teachers cope the challenges in new mode of teaching-learning process? It is extremely out of answers, right? But, big thanks to education system for the untiring effort they have exerted to make learning possible despite of circumstances. Do you want to know the learning delivery modality we used in school? Here we are. I am humbly working as a flexible teacher. 2 years ago, I was able to enter in public as a secondary teacher. I handled multiple sections with one subject taught. Teaching with blended learning approach is far from the teaching we had before COVID-19 stroke the nationwide. Yes, you read it right. Blended learning is our way of delivering instructions to the learners. The school where I am currently teaching now is quite big as it holds more than the half of 23 politically subdivided barangays in town. So how does the life of blended learning works? I am discussing based on the experiences I have in dealing with blended learning. To be sure, safety health protocols and social distancing are implemented and practiced. In our school, it has four grade levels with corresponding color coding for envelopes. To easily identify, green for Grade 7, yellow for Grade 8, pink for Grade 9 and blue for Grade 10. I am luckily belonging in green team, the Grade 7. Our school has organized rules and guidelines for module’s distribution and retrieval. Prior to the assigned date of distribution, I personally prepare and fix the needed modules, additional tests from subject teachers and envelopes. With 41 students, I placed the modules inside the envelopes alphabetically one by one. After packing of modules, the box will be taken to disinfection room, vice versa. They disinfect the box before carrying to the barangay for module distribution. As a teacher assigned in barangay, before, I also go to the place of distribution where I personally give the envelopes to the parents/guardians. This practice also helps me in monitoring the students who are complying. To those who are not, extensive communication is needed. When the modules are well distributed, I will announce the date of online class through Messenger. Yes, I conducted discussions through google meeting. Online learning is not that easy what you expected, I encountered troublesome and different problems. Not all the students have gadgets and internet connection. Some of them are borrowing mobile phones to their siblings, cousins and even in neighborhood. They have no gadgets and enough money for loading to have access. On the other hand, some of my students share one device, automatically disconnects due to poor internet connection, slurred speech, and some are not totally joining because they do not possess anything. Many of the students do not have the privilege to comply in online discussion. Through online, it is not only for discussing the lesson; it is also my way to monitor and to communicate with my students how they have been through in learning as well the impact of the current situation in their lives. Today, after a two-week of answering the modules, retrieval day is approaching with assigned date. During retrieval of modules, parents put the envelopes on the assigned box with the name of adviser. After disinfecting the box, I sort the answer sheets and modules from the envelopes repeatedly until the end. The answer sheets will be given to the subject teachers for checking and evaluation. It is all the same scenarios until the next date of module distribution and retrieval. It is like a paper cycle. As of now, teachers who assigned in the barangay are not required to go there for safety purposes. Others are in school because of their assigned schedule. Some people might think that teachers are doing nothing. “Akala niyo lang wala! Pero meron! meron! meron!” Aside from modules, there is so much more tasks to do. Teachers are also parents, businessman/woman, officials at home and play as a catalyst of change in society. It is not always what you think that teachers are just merely sitting in school nor indulgent. However, I am extremely grateful for the privilege because I have work that sustains the needs of my family as well helps other people in need, even in smallest thing I could do to help. As a teacher and learner as well, blended learning is serving as the bridge to fill the gaps between the school and the house. When I am staring trees, gym, canteen, flagpole and empty classrooms, it makes me feel blue. It brings me to the loud noises I am missing to hear, loveable students I want to taking care of, the interactive discussions that surely drive the students’ eagerness to learn, and standing in front of every student where my passion fires at most—teaching as far as I could, as I influence them touching their lives. This will be a reminder to everyone that learning will never stop!

FACT: Mental health is Wealth ❤️ Is your mind experiencing overthinking? Loss of sleep every night time? Feeling tired even you do not have much activities in daylight? Well, there is something unknown behind. Our mental health determines the way how we think, feel, act and respond. Good mental health provides positivity and helps us coping the pressures and challenges. Otherwise, if you are experiencing irrationality, loss of appetite, mood alterations, unknown tears, fear, doubtfulness and everything that depletes your energy, it could be a sign of unstable mental health and need to be addressed immediately. Why am I writing this topic? Because I am one of those. People tend to say that I am a cheerful person. I remembered when my elementary adviser told me that she saw a cheerful personality in me. I could say that it is true but not all the times until I have experienced losing of interest in everything. See? How does a cheerful person become a bothered one? There were sleepless nights that I could not stop thinking. There were mourning days that I could stare at nothingness. A mournful day that someone in my consciousness was died---myself. I am a bit teary eyes while writing this. At the back of my mind, why I became like this? In my college years, life has become literally back-breaking. Yes, it is! That time, I am the eldest among the two siblings. My family has an average way of living, poor sometimes. Luckily to say, we have wonderful and hardworking parents that everyone could wished for. Papa, who has been driving for almost 27 years of his life. Mama, who has been a warrior in performing her duties as beloved mother to us. They have raised us well and give what everything we need even they have forgotten themselves. Two years of my college years went well. The financial support was given by my parents continuously. As years passed by, my sister and I need to be able to study in one university but in different campuses. Studying in a university is a privilege so we should value and take it seriously. And here it is, everyone in the family was challenged and worried because of the cost. As the eldest, I have to do whatever it takes to finish my study as well my sister plus the daily living. Things went well although there were days and nights that we should suffer first until the frightful day had came unexpectedly. It was a couple of weeks when my father had experienced sudden weight loss, lost interest in food, difficulty in sleeping at night and fatigue. We were worried because he undergone several tests and check-ups but his condition was still unknown until a certain doctor laid him down and viewed his neck. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This incident made our situation more difficult. Aside from family issues, school works became heavy excessively. Financial shortage, emotional distress, diminution of the fellow, physically tormented and sadness that covered our home triggered my anxiety. Those moments, I do not have anyone to talk to. I do not have someone I can lean on. I am just a nobody whose no one wanted to empathize me. I was too weak and fragile. Only myself and sorrow had been my companion. Here is where it all started that I must face another battle; a fight against myself. Another one, this pandemic has brought huge changes in the world. Economics, businesses, livestock, education, transportation especially the way of people’s living suddenly turned into chaos. If I have not mistaken, March 16, 2020 was the date which nationwide lockdown implemented in the Philippines. This phenomenon led to various problems in the entire country. During lockdown season, everyone is staying at home due to restrictions and strict quarantine protocols. As days gone by, I received multiple errands that might affect my situation as a teacher. The situation was not good and every place was under lockdown, streets were closed, restrictions were stringent and no means of transportation. Even the world experiencing difficulties, there were people who would not consider the situation as long as theirs is good. What a shame! I was stucked between the things to ought and the things should not. Please bear with me because too many to mention what happened but it is all hard to be accepted. Every day, thinking decisions or what should I do to make it right consumes me gradually. My weight was dropped, I almost forgot meals, though my mind is tired I can’t sleep and still awake for a long time until sunrise. I’ve been used by so many. This was another reason why my anxiety was regained; it kills me inside. Until today, anxiety is hitting me actively. Why am I not telling this to my family? Comrades? Co-workers? Simply because I want to endure this as long as I can. I don't want to be a burden to anyone. I am somehow uncomfortable in sharing what I have been feeling, what I have been experiencing personally (that is why I engage myself in writing). Today, I could say I can handle this because I know how important I am. Dealing with anxiety is one my hardest feeling ever. While anxiety lives within my mind, my body starts restructuring. Here are the things I have done for myself: • You must know your worth, your importance as a human! Self-love and self-care are two intertwining methods that will help your mind become stable. • Never please anyone. If they want to, go ahead. If they don’t want, let them go. The world is beautiful, make yourself too. Do not settle for less. • Practice meditation. Just have a five to ten minutes for calling yourself. Go to places where you can ponder yourself with peace. • Be active. You do not have to go to the gym, doing household chores can make you active in physical activity. Exercise as well because it lifts your mood and keep it in balance. • Even this pandemic hindrance our chances to discover new things, do not let this stop you in learning. Keep learning every day! • Be kind. An act of kindness can improve your vision as an individual. Remember what Mother Theresa said, “The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow, do good anyway”. But do not let other people abuse you. • Empower your connection especially in your family, friends and to those people who understand you. • Strengthen your faith, because it is the only thing that will drive you in providence. God will never leave us. For a long time, mental health is not just a mere issue, it needs a broader sense of understanding and integrates as one of the most important components of individual’s health. Do not invalidate someone’s feeling and experiences. They might experience storms that no one could see and hear. If you keep your body fit physically, give the assurance that your mind is pretty healthy! Continue fighting! Love, molivs ❤️

Make your life sure with nature! Nature, I assumed that you probably think this word when you see the picture I have attached. Why am I deeply in love in nature? Because nature is truly everything. Nature is the integral part of mankind. It is the most important blessing in human life. The sun which is the primary source of light energy to living and non-living things. The air we breathe that continues life of every individual in the world. The various kinds of plants and trees that make them diverse and useful in each life situations of human and animals. The verdant surroundings that keep our eyes relaxed and refreshed. The oceans which cover almost the half of the world where abundant organisms rely and live on. The animals that make the environment alive and functional to its purposes. Rivers, falls, lakes, watersheds are some of the resources that sustain the significance of water biologically and naturally. Nature has been the home for living and non-living things. Let us have short explanation about these things. Non-living things are the inanimate body or objects that have function in nature but has no life at all. Although these things are lifeless, they play an important role in balancing the nature particularly in ecosystem like water, air, rocks, sunlight, land, furniture and the rest. Therefore, they have no life but they continue to exist. On the other hand, we have living things. It pertains to the things that shows life and alive. It primarily performs the biological functions of living every day. Small organisms like bacteria and viruses, human and animals are the foremost example of this category. To sum up, living things have life and the absence of life refers to non-living things. Generally, everything you see in your surroundings can be distinguished as living and non-living things. Nature is always looking at us. It is the creation where numerous people inspire themselves to write poems, stories, express emotions, release toxic thoughts and serve as the unwinding place for people. However, not everyone recognized the beauty and significance of the nature. As a young individual, I deeply honored that I am able to see and enjoy its loveliness and what nature could bring us to live. I could say that I am a nature lover. Life is tough, so living too. We should work to sustain our daily needs—food, money, bills and other essentials that make living comfortable. Why do I admire nature? Simply because it removes exhaustion in my mind and brings physical ease into my soul. It is the home of tranquility and freedom to unleash grievance, tiredness, fear, doubtfulness and mostly reliefs my anxiety. Stress reduction is one of the well-known benefits of being in nature. Whenever I reconnect to nature, I am completely relief wherein my weary eyes and body are both grateful for serenity. Furthermore, being in nature automatically lifts my spirits and put myself to reflect the thoughts and ideas circling in my mind. Reflective practices have huge benefits in increasing self-awareness which is the leading component of emotional intelligence and help us to have a better understanding of things that surround us. If we can check other people, we must check ourselves too. Most of the time, we forgot what is really important so that the aspects of life turned into a parallel one. If we cannot handle this, it might lead to distractions that push us to live unhappily. Engaging yourself in nature is truly an amazing thing to do right? But nowadays humans seem failing as a caretaker of the nature. People are the only rational being that are capable of nurturing the nature and keeping its constituents healthy. We fulfill our healthy lifestyle by eating, drinking and getting what we need and want to survive. As a human, I am extremely hoping that everyone should provide support in giving care and maintain the essence of the nature even the speed of technological advancements moves rapidly. The world is immensely beautiful, so humans must be too. The nature is taking care of us, we should not fail to give it back! Love, molivs ❤️

Nostalgic moments in biking! One hot afternoon, I was lying on a bed with my siblings and our mother was beside on an old-timey radio. “Take me to your heart, take me to your soul, give me your hand before I’m old. Show me what love is, haven’t got a clue, show me that wonders can be true”. Yeah, I am singing while I am typing these lyrics. You want to why? This song was always playing on that radio as a lullaby. Also, this kind of song is my mother’s cup of tea. Anyway, every afternoon, 1 o’clock to be exact, my siblings and I must sleep for hours. They said that if we sleep for hours, we will grow rapidly and I think that scenario is a culture adaptation. Besides, it aims good because sleeping is necessary. An hour had passed by, my eyes were still alive, moving and staring the fined brown-bamboo upwardly. Hmm, that moment, I was thinking riding a bicycle. Riding a bicycle is my favorite hobby. During childhood, I had always a chance to ride my grandfather’s bicycle. A few moments, silence was dominating. I slowly walked throughout the bed and escape for a while. I grabbed the bicycle and rode it cheerfully. As the moment I touched the steering wheel, my feet were eventually kicked the pedal. The smile on my face was unimaginably. I was like in a cloud nine, the bicycle lifts me on the ground and spin me around. I was overwhelmed that time because I finally did what my heart desires. The time was approaching and it seemed I must go back home. While I was heading off, I was out balanced resulting a wound on my left knee. What came up on my mind first? My mother’s angry face. Three houses far from the house, adrenaline rush was running all over the boy. Nervousness was the main emotion I’d felt while walking. I came back home safely and the bicycle was resting beside the malunggay tree. Out of nowhere, I cried because I had a wound that would surely annoy the mood of the house. My mother was standing on the kitchen with annoyance, “where have you been? She asked. “I rode tatang’s bicycle (tatang is the common term for lolo or grandfather)” I answered. She deeply sighed. “Sorry Ma, if I escaped from sleeping and rode the bicycle. I fell on the ground and my left knee was wounded.” I added. The moment she saw the wound, she grasped my hand and cleansed it with soap and running water. I was terribly anxious that she will trample her anger on me, gladly it wasn’t. Riding a bicycle is one of my favorite things to do ever since. Aside from it is eco-friendly, it is less hassle and helps our body to increase cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, flexibility and strengthen the immune system to fight diseases. Ride safe! Love, molivs ❤️
