Short story: "The Secret of Chronos Legacy"

In the shadows of an ancient library in Prague, a leather-bound book was hidden, with gilded edges barely glimpsed beneath the accumulated dust of centuries. This was no ordinary book; rumor had it that within its pages lay the secret to manipulating time. Its title, "Chronos' Legacy," was barely legible on the worn cover. Isabela, a young librarian newly assigned to the National Library, was the one who discovered the strange volume during her first week on the job. Curious by nature and passionate about history and ancient mysteries, Isabela could not resist the temptation to open the book. As she did so, a series of unfamiliar symbols began to glow faintly on the pages, and without knowing how, Isabela suddenly found herself in the year 1824, in the very city of Prague. -What on earth...? -Isabela was surprised, looking around in disbelief. Meanwhile, in the present, Isabela's disappearance did not go unnoticed. Tomas, a colleague whom Isabela had befriended, noticed her absence and eventually discovered the open book on her desk. Intrigued and concerned, he began to investigate the book, discovering its dangerous power. -What happened to Isabela? -Thomas asked his boss, the head librarian, with concern. -We don't know, but she seems to be gone all of a sudden," the head librarian replied, worried. In 1824, Isabela, confused and frightened, began to search for a way to return to her time. She realized that she needed the book, which had been left in 2024. In her search, she attracted the attention of a group of alchemists of the time, who also knew the legend of the book and wished to use it for their own purposes. -What is this? -Isabela asked one of the alchemists, surprised by his interest in the book. -It is the secret to manipulating time," the alchemist answered, with a twinkle in his eye. Tomas, for his part, found old notes in the library suggesting the existence of a ritual to bring someone back from the past. However, the ritual required the person in the past to perform a simultaneous ceremony, something that seemed impossible without communication. -How can I do this? -Thomas wondered, studying the notes. Isabela, using her ingenuity and the resources of the time, managed to send a coded message through an advertisement in an old newspaper that she knew Tomás would investigate. Tomás, recognizing the code, prepared the ritual in the present, while Isabela did the same in 1824. Finally, during a full moon night, they both performed the rituals. The pages of the book glowed brightly and, in a vortex of light and shadow, Isabela was brought back to her time. Upon her return, they decided to hide the book in a safe place, sealing the entrance to prevent anyone else from using it and altering the course of time. -I'm back," Isabela said, excited and relieved. -I'm here to help you," Tomás replied, smiling. The experience united them irrevocably, and together, they continued to decipher the mysteries of history, but always respecting the power that some secrets, like those of the book, should remain hidden.
