Creating a comic book style drawing
This drawing was based on one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters, not in the style of the video game or the animated series but in the comic that preceded all the above and gave them their origin. I got the reference image from Google; and as soon as I saw it I wanted to do it immediately. For the beginning of the drawing process as usual we create a sketch before using the grid technique that will allow us to accurately locate each line. In this step we will use the 3B pencil for greater comfort at the moment of having to erase in order to correct our progress.
Next we will highlight the lines but this time with a stylograph. Once that is done we remove all the graphite with the help of a white school eraser.
Now we are going to paint the character with colors that will go in their respective areas: skin, shadows, mask... With the colors that are red, yellowish red, gray, green, jade green and black.
As you can see the range of colors is very limited but the result is spectacular, more because we have a comic style portrait (serious looking) of Rafael. I hope this will motivate you to do it. And remember you can comment at the end of this post, I'll be reading and giving you feedback. I also appreciate all the support received from all of you. Without more to say I'll see you in a next installment. Until then 😎👍.
