~The Black Soldier Fly~ Around 20mm in size, very black in color like jet black or as dark as the night. Just plain black. He is looking tough and fully geared ready for a battle. At first I thought it has only one wing but that was really a silly thought. It's wings are overlapping, so only one is visible particularly when you are on its right side. I'm happy I managed to take a closer picture that I got its dark shiny color. Because my first take turned out to be brown because of the sunlight. I think he is handsome despite the absence of other colors but black. Did you know that Black Soldier Flies are one of those considered as beneficial or valuable insect species? They are...they are not considered as pests. They don't transmit diseases nor do they bite. Their larvae can be used to compost waste or convert the waste into animal feed. So there you go...they may look and sound a bit scary but really they are not... We should be treating them like sweethearts, haha. I hope you are having a nice start of the week, noisemates.
