Late autumn mushrooms - Hemipholiota populnea almost like jellyfish This strange and beautiful mushroom can be found in late autumn, mainly on cut or dead poplars. Additionally, it has characteristic large scales, hence its name Poplar Łuskwiak. This mushroom can have a cap up to 20 cm in diameter. When it is young it is almost white in color, with age it becomes ocher, brown with characteristic wool scales. It is often slimy to the touch and wet, quite fleshy, a bit like jellyfish. The leg is thick and massive, with a cylindrical shape. The circle of the stipe is whitish at the top and rusty brown at the bottom, and may be scaly. The leg has a ring. The mushroom flesh is white in color, brown, rusty in older fruiting bodies.
