Shipwreck bay (Navagio) - Zakynthos, my trip around Greece Shipwreck Bay, or as some say, Shipwreck Beach, is undoubtedly one of the most popular attractions of the island of Zakynthos, also called by the locals Zante, and at the same time one of the most photographed place in Greece. The most famous Greek shipwreck is located on a beautiful beach, among huge cliffs. The location of the beach is so special that it can only be reached by sea. The island does not offer many historical attractions and monuments apart from a few churches and monasteries, but its natural beauty is simply stunning. It is full of wonderful landscapes, amazing beaches, charming coves, olive groves and very nice inhabitants of the island. Where did this shipwreck come from? The history of the ship dates back to 1937. It was founded in the Scottish shipyard in Bowling and was then called MV Saint Bedan. The ship was 158 feet long, 26 feet wide, and the tonnage was 452.
