As #cny is about to end , house visitation (with proper pre-visit swab test) is highly important . The old fashion gift packs from family to family used to be ground nuts, biscuits, Mandarin oranges and sometimes even meat jerkies, usually for kids to enjoy. Since #covid19 happened , the idea steering towards health emphasis to the seniors becomes a trend instead. And every Chinese speaking custom practicing family always have a give pack for visitors too. In Cantonese speaking it would say 好来好去 which means "good come, good go" wishing the visitor(s) equal blessing that they brought over too. Motto is no visitor should visit empty handed; and leave empty handed as well during #ChineseNewYear Do you have similar practice in your country during your festive seasons ?

I've never lived in an area that had a high enough Chinese population for us to celebrate Chinese New Year. It is an official holiday here in the Philippines, at least for one day, but I am told most of the "Chinese", (or their descendants), live in Manila, not out here in the "wilds" of Mindanao. I don't think we even have any Chinese restaurants within driving distance. There are a few Korean or Japanese restaurants, but no Chinese ones that I am aware of.
