Generally canned baked beans taste rather bland, and that's also a reason some people dislike it. But my mom had a "spiced up" recipe that made every kid appreciate baked beans with a touch of a "magic" like: A teaspoon of vege stock / chicken stock Minced meat Potatoes Carrots (if any extra) Additional tomato ketchup / chilli sauce (non spicy or spicy version) A dash of pepper. This gives the "extra kick" that canned baked beans don't have, and add on with some freshness into the stewed dish. Goes really well with bread + sunny side up / plain rice Would you hack it better? Or just eat out from the can?

Yes, I'm one of those people who don't like baked beans. If it's cooked and hot, still not so bad but some of the western food served them straight out of the can.
Smokey tabasco sauce is a game changer.
Looks rough tho.
