i guess i was a little naive, but interacting with SmartBCH and Harmony got me thinking that all these new smart chains were cheap to transact... i've had some MATIC ($5.61) sitting in Coinbase for a while, thought i'd load that up into Metamask and click on some stuff. tried to transfer, would cost $5.60 to transfer....okay then. i saw news that a project i follow on Harmony was setting up a fork for the Crypto.com Cronos chain. i thought, sweet, let's take a look at Cronos. i'm poking around and i see a fork of a cool project from the Fantom chain ( that they did not give attribution in their docs, SHAME ON THEM ). to test out the gas fees, i try to Approve one of their contracts.... 0.15$ in gas. better than Polygon, but 3-5X SmartBCH and much much higher than Harmony. i know that gas is an incentive to node runners and "that's how it works" but why even spin up a new chain if it ain't cheap?! to be honest, SmartBCH fees kinda hurt. i've got "BCH income" lol, so it's less worrying, but i've been paying Harmony gas fees ( just 22 transactions so far ) and haven't broken 1 cent total.... and one more thing about Harmony before i go: WAGMI (🤝,🤝)
